Starting your day with Energization EE, Meditation, and devotional readings from the Masters Sacred works of Autobiography of a Yogi and Whispers From Eternity, etc.
A devotee relates his experiences with Yoganandaji’s sacred scriptures, and how this book is changing the world. Autobiography of a Yogi is just the beginning of this advanced Revelation for the third millennium. Yogananda called this holy book His “ambassador.” Now available in over 50 languages and updated to where the master requested it to be. The SRF editions are the most accurate, complete, and up to date editions of the Masters’ works! You won’t find this anywhere else!
This inspiring corpus of Paramahansa Yogananda’s Revelatory dispensations are revolutionizing the worlds understanding of religion, spirituality, and consciousness over the last century.
Adding to this Avatars latest Divine Revelation [The Life and Legacy of Paramahansa Yogananda], the world is also gaining so many further clarifications via discoveries and research that are now resulting in the verification of the wisdom of the Sanatana Dharma and other previous revelations!
Because we now know more truth about the worlds spirituality/religions? Regarding Origins, Avatars, history, linguistic corrections for translating, etc. The divine plan is showing us all the differences between blind belief and the intuitive mystical wisdom of India’s timeless Kriya Yoga. This Yoga of all Yogas, is an integral part of those Dharmic faith systems which represent and were born out of the Holy Sanatana Dharma.[tr. “the Eternal Religion”] These ancient wisdom traditions represent the “democracy” of Spirituality for humanity in the modern ages, and are producing and endless succession of “Sons of God;” as it says in the Rev of John.////////////////////////////// Great and dedicated Yogi/Yoginis are those who have found that Kingdom of Heaven is within. The Various other systems of unscientific blind belief are more tyrannical and fixed in nature, and represent more primitive power structures of politicized religion. Many of which have been the main causes of global bloody conflicts [mostly regional] in recent times and long ago. The creator of conflicts against most other non-believers! There are none so confused and insecure who promote a faith system whose very foundation rests only on blind consensus! Those who emphasize terror and death unless others agree with or join them are not messengers of peace and love!
Simply put, as long as anyone/any group believes their way is the only valid way, that is not spiritual. It is clearly a set of politicized beliefs masquerading as religious concepts.
Such rigid, dogmatic, systems eventually create massive, inflexible, limited blinding power structures that are self-defeating and popular, comfortable, and misdirected. Leaving a trail of endless misdirection and blindness that ties our consciousness to this world of illusion. That is why so many leaders of the religious organizations which have been created by unrealized persons hate transparency, fain humility, confuse fables with facts, and eventually lose morality altogether while covering up their multiple errors. Power structures are built on the unstable sands of primitive, immoral mayic worshipping ideals. Like all empires, over time, they eventually crumble in their own cruel feebleness. This is the story of “the blind leading the blind”.///////////////////
The main difference in todays techno world is that these politized power structures are now mainly engaged in pouring billions of US dollars into the attempted conversion of millions of new victims of their darker understandings of their own teachings and history.
Both Paramahansa Yogananda, Jeshua, Govinda [lord Krishna] all give dire warnings about the dangers and harms of missionary work performed by those who have yet to understand the lofty principles they espouse. Many true prophets all give the same wisdom advice to “change yourself first.” //////////////////////////////////////////// This is of course the quick and easy way to capture the youthful, desperate, and poorly informed populations of isolated or third world nations and areas even today that are still falling prey to those who preach that everyone else must change. As they have no true foundation or full knowledge how get beyond the illusion of the mayic world. For starters, watch and study some of the many videos of or about Yogananda. The fortunate citizens of America were able to observe and interact with a modern living Christ [Avatar] in real time within the last hundred years or so. “His truth is marching on!” See the following video on utube about a recent publication on “The Life of Yogananda.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lzilw96ysc
Or, also see the full length documentary feature film “Awake, The Life of Yogananda” on line, or on DVD available through Self-Realization Fellowship, there is also an online trailer for free viewing. This beautiful award winning film was released in 2014 and ran for several weeks where I live.
The following wisdom gems are now becoming clearly established with serious seekers of truth in this radiant light glowing 21st century! Watch light of Kriya Yoga closely as the tenacious stubborn darkness of previous generations slowly fades away with great resistance! Even if all that you read in your sacred books is true or accurate, the greater problem for you [the believer] is the inability to break through your indoctrinated egotism and fear to a place where you correctly decipher the true meanings of those sacred texts. This is just the first step! When I said that Jesus and Krishna taught the same wisdom 6K years apart, this clarity is what Yogananda also brought to America in the last century. For Kriya Yoga and its refreshing wisdom from the Sanatana Dharma can only be seen clearly if you go beyond shallow popularity teachings of Churchianity [ PY’s term]. Are you ready and/or willing to be different, since most human progress in any field of endeavor has rarely been the result of “consensus.” The Master said seclusion (individuality) is the price of greatness.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lzilw96ysc go to the start of this podcast ////// It has usually the light from true barrier breakers, and creative, disciplined souls, both in spirituality, religion, and the scientific community that create real wisdom of Kriya Yoga and other reliable Technology! This winding road though many lifetimes can be long and lonely -as the song says.
Alas, so many of the dangers are removed if you can be guided by a true enlightened teacher known as the Guru. Although the true Guru serves many purposes, teaching is only one of His gifts to the loyal dedicated devotee. For such a one does not die in the common way, such a Great One leave the body for the final exit as a pure omnipresent unlimited Consciousness. And has mastered the enigmas of this illusionary world. Nothing in time space and duality seems flawless, but working with a true Master, may appear the closest to it in this world. Self-Realization (Salvation) takes place mostly before death, and even that is not the end? Every moment of your beautiful or challenging life is so precious, when Mother brings wisdom or opportunities into your life, don’t get lost in the jungles of theology and academia. JUST DO IT ! Every wisdom nugget life drops in your lap, absorb it, work with it, cherish it! Don’t get lost in the maddening crowds that are slipping into the hopeless Abyss of sheepish oblivion! By following the wisdom, truth modern living examples of the Great Ones you can overcome every challenge in your life, and reach your fullest potential.
Chew on these ideas for a while and reread the history of your own path: and may come to understand that; As a rule, the worlds Avatars [saviors] never return for second public debuts, why not? the main reasons that come to my attention are first, because it would contradict the purpose of their original Revelations and legacy. and even create in the minds of many follower confusion of spiritual understandings about the direction and purpose of His long awaited originally ordained and prophesied mission and purpose. To think clearly about this matter, one must have some understanding what that mission is. The second problem is the fact that all those who attempted to predict or calculate such a “second public return” are always totally contradicted by a clear picture of history! The next problem is the face of history we now have regarding the many Sons of God [These perfected spiritual masters] in the stunning fact that they [not one] has ever returned for a second public debut. To gel all the above situations there is the most embarrassing fact that when they speak of returning – they make it ever so clear that that “returning “will take place for only those devotees who understand the truth of their work and presence eventually becoming one with them and the Father. In English the word father simply means “originator”! And by the way this is all explained in the gospel of John ch 14.
However, if you reread the holy Bhagavad Gita and St. Johns chapter 14 for a few more years, You might understand that Jesus tells us His true second coming will definitely happen to those devotees who truly love Him and reach the consciousness of the true unity of being. Omnipresence! Lord Krishna also says that same thing in His Bhagavad Gita The details of the scientific formulae of the science of Kriya Yoga are all shown in the Holy Gita. They are mostly missing from the Gospels as Jeshua clearly ordered his devotees “not to throw your pearls of wisdom to the swines, or they will tear you apart.
Why do so many churches persist in the hopeless hope that Messiah needs to make a second public debut to finish His great work? He already tells you that “Heaven and earth may pass away, but his words will not!” The fact is that this concept is a false hope-hook, and many pseudo religious entrepreneurs’ have exposed themselves as false prophets pretending they had the power to tell you the future. Such as, follow our way, and when He comes the world will see that only our understanding of these teachings was the correct one! Those years have gone by and over and over again with those who have embarrassed themselves, and these pretenses of false claims are well recorded in history. No, Avatars do not simply return to the Masses for second public debuts. It would serve little purpose to expose oneself to those narrow minded masses who prefer comfort over truth!
Now that we clearly know what to do – JUST DO IT ! Finally, it was Yogananda, the great avatar from India, who showed us the true meaning of that “second coming” promise and many other truths! How did the leaders and even His own apostles get so many things wrong? Whatever He told them, they were teaching to all that His second coming would take place within their own lifetimes – eg by the year 90CE. This was only one of several areas of His teaching they failed to grasp. They were indoctrinated into a primitive tradition that had some limiting concepts about humanity, salvation, meditation, culture and the mystical path to true salvation. Just imagine, even after three and a half years of a lot of personal time in His presence, being taught many advanced mystical Yoga skills. Along with this higher concept of Dharmic advanced religion, they were still only baptizing persons in His name if they were born as Hebrews (Jews). Peter experienced a Second Coming for further Instruction. Read your gospels, connect the dots, and meditate on these things. Just remember, when He returned to Judea after 18yrs [much of it spent near the Temple of Jagannath on India’s SE Coast, what did He tell that Samaritan woman? I came to save the lost sheep of Israel ! He did not stay in India to save the Hindus, He did not return to save the Greeks. Romans, Egyptians or Pagans or the Heathens, or the Romans. He emphasized that the Jews [his own people] needed saving -Why? Have you been asking this serious question, all you who think and follow the old testament more than the New Testament? He is also speaking to you who today falsely promote the Easter bunny lie to keep you in their controlled grip. Don’t you see the pattern, one dark concept they had in those times in Judea was that the were waiting for some messianic Warrior to save them from the occupation of Rome. And the dead will be raise with new bodies etc. When He was teaching misinformation such as love those who offend you and quietly give to Caesar that which is his [Taxes], and to God that which is His [your love]. They wanted him out of the way! which they finally did. They above all wanted to get rid of their “Great Embarrassment.”
Another item was:
Their primitive idea that there was only one lifetime and the a judgement, followed by new bodies being resurrected for everyone[who stays in line]. This is what the Rabbis promised if you paid your dues, etc, etc. They believed they had a good racket going -“just don’t ask me to change myself!” “It is so much more exciting and egocentric to change others.” So, they found it very different to adapt to a new teaching that did not keep them at the top of all races as the favored ones. When the Romans came along, down went 3000 years of the great myth. Those who maintain the special power and status amongst the less educated and privileged of society just can’t stand it when their lies find them out in the presence of a great soul! The only thing on their mind was, “How do we get rid of the Romans so we can look honest and proud again ?” So in those days only maintaining the “great Lie” important to those leaders, not “how can we change ourselves to become honest leaders.? This would require changing themselves first, not very easy or very exciting, you see, its always more exciting and pompous to be changing others. That way you never need to admit you were wrong, lazy, greedy, and dishonest. Why do so many persons [the sheeple] trust leaders would kill and abuse their own so easily. It’s about fear insecurity and being poorly informed,///////////////////This essay is being revised and updated………………….authors notes 9/2024

“There never was only one way to discover ones own divinity” ”There never was only one living savior for all mankind.” ” There never was only one final sacred work for all seekers.” There never was “ONLY ONE LIFETIME FOR EVERY LIVING SOUL” “Reincarnation and Karma and Yoga are the true paths to salvation.” This is what a great soul does for his students, Chelas and devotees ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmcdnCeA980
Who and what was Paramahansa Yogananda ? use above link.
How could modern and ancient leaders of the Abrahamic traditions make so many errors when interpreting their own scripture? The Master did clearly state “the majority would seek the way of destruction, and the Few would find the narrow gate and narrow way that leads to life. “pp This is the whole story of much of human history, consensus worships power and hides the truth, it’s more profitable and pompous that way for the ego!

How a Living Master works silently in the in the background of our lives. Another true Story of the worlds Great most Recent Avatar.
At about 15 yrs of age, a neighbor got me interested in physical fitness, decades before it became so trendy. There was a spare room in our large home that I was later allowed to use as a personal weightlifting gym. While saving up for a set of barbells, I was creating a course and making the equipment for the new home gym.
Soon procured some weightlifting mags and a couple of books on anatomy to better understand how to work on this growing machine,….the human body is an interesting instrument to live with. This was the beginning of my health education that in recent years gave me the wonderful blessing of avoiding the Covid 19 Vaxx trap. (it was never fully tested) nor is it the best treatment!
Great day when the weights arrived!
Faithfully following a program and keeping careful records, progress was very steady and confidence building. Changing ones diet is also recommended? Gaining so many benefits from this activity, since as I started off as a pretty skinny kid with a lower than normal IQ… After about 30 months of faithful practice this body was more like magazine weight lifting models (not too bulky though), and my school marks went to the top 10% of the class. Waking up ones brain at puberty is an amazing experience, master is always pointing us in the best direction at every moment of life’s journey! Seize those precious opportunities! Hesitate no longer friends and Masters devotees!
Around this time an unknown genius (Paul D Frank) moved into my neighborhood. The mothers timing is impeccable and precise, stay alert! This noble man became a mentor to me for a year or two. Also became a great lifelong friend. Little did I know at the time that he had studied the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons course. Although I don’t believe he ever received Kriya Yoga initiation. He later told me that he had read the “Autobiography of a Yogi” shortly before meeting me! As brilliant as he was, his heart was still slightly enshrouded by the dark childhood indoctrinations of the Orthodoxy of the RC church which was the culture he was raised in.
This otherwise talented genius (of many academic fields , health and music) never mentioned Yogananda’s name to me until 30 years later, but he did have a copy of the energization exercises (Yogoda) that he had typed out and presented to me in 1953.
Being impressed with my progress in the health and fitness area, he asked me to stop the weights and try this isometric (EE) Yogoda program for a while. “Try this for a while and let me know what the results are !” said Paul.
Master is always working in the background of our lives! As I found out several years later, even before you open a new door in life most entertaining adventure, your next step to learn and grow is already awaiting your curious and open mind! I ceased the weight lifting program and started the EE’s (Yogoda) program every day….From then until now, still doing them every day! They are truly youth sustaining and meditation enhancing!
Well, after a few months of the enjoying the “Yogoda exercise system”, I sold my weights and gym equipment to a family friend, as I was getting similar results without using any equipment! This same friend used to tease me about how my body was changing! Now, he wanted the results he saw happening before his eyes..
The logic was obvious to me. Eventually, I also learned Hatha Yoga postures. Becoming a yoga instructor years later as well. Did you know that even the original martial arts schools from millennia ago (before the arts moved Eastward) are still functioning in south India!
After several years of intensive study of World religions with some yoga and meditations, I took a much needed rest from academia (I was home schooling myself in Comp religions).
Less than two weeks later a collogue showed me an ad with the cover of “Autobiography of a Yogi”. I was impressed but not looking for a teacher at that time.
However about 10 months later my wife found a book about Master that someone had left on a table a the local library in Niagara Falls. [the Sayings of Yogananda.]
After a much needed rest from my academic adventures I immediately felt Yogananda’s overwhelming presence upon touching that book, and the fact that it was He that was orchestrating/guiding my life and all its directions and insights in those previous years became absolutely, overwhelmingly clear to me. Actually – this was the third time that He attempted to introduce Himself to me. Taking the odd short rest will at times produce the results you really need! It takes you past the clouds of interfering desires.
Within days, I sent for the “Self-Realization fellowship ” Lessons course, and soon after read the world’s great book, “Autobiography of a Yogi.” Through following years I have seen Yogananda in visions as well. This initially happened 6 years after his passing! He Lives and works for all of us still – just as He clearly promised long ago. About 1975 I stopped teaching hatha yoga as it was time to concentrate more fully on my hearts true Sadhana with SRF/YSS meditation and Yogoda workouts.
Also met SRF monastics at MC Who are so inspiring and dedicated.
After establishing my routine with the Energization exercises, this same mentor encouraged me to study the new testament and other works. It was a study I found to be both enlightening and fascinating. As wonderful as I found these biblical writings, I felt no personal connection with Jesus as a Guru figure or personal teacher. Being my own teacher in those early years on this adventure of amazing discoveries, had not imagined there were still such great ones wandering the planet. This led to and expanded study of comparative religion following my introduction to the Holy Bhagavad Gita. Then the sacred scriptures of other various religions for a few more years. It was clear to me early on that my heart was always with the Sanatana Dharma, [Hinduism and Yoga] I was deeply impressed with the correlation between the Bhagavad Gita of Krishna and New Testament concepts. Whatever the Gospels were brief about, Lord Krishna explained in precise scientific detail, when Jesus explained other matters in detail, Lord Krishna [circa 5500 BC] was very brief about those same matters. Yet it was all at the same level of teaching.
It took the Hebrew tribes another six thousand years to be ready for that same lofty mystical teaching of the science of Yoga and universal unconditional divine love….And even in this age of science and electronics the science of Kriya Yoga, the East [India] is still millennia ahead of Western social, psychological, and spiritual awareness!
When I found the Holy Bhagavad Gita and it supported the unorthodox interpretations that I had been making from the Gospels, I soon left the family church and went on from there to research more of the worlds faiths. It is a sad thing that so many seekers I met who have read the Gita, failed to continue searching out its great spiritual treasures. This takes a dedication and persistence that few persons are willing to invest in. So many are in the habit of “just show me another book to entertain me!”
This amazing correlation between these two scriptures is especially unique when we discover that the dispensations of these two avatars delivered their teachings six thousand years apart. After 3k years from Abrahams time the Hebrews were finally ready to know the wisdom of the Sanatana Dharma. Lord Bhagavan Krishna’s date is accurately recorded as 6,550 BC. [there are other estimates not far off that date] This brings into question that meme that these Avatars arrive with Progressive Revelations for the whole world. Progressive for who exactly? It has been mainly for specific cultures till the 20th Century, that might be different now with this planet being so integrated socially and technologically.
. Until recent decades most cultures were progressing at their own disparaging pace! In 3,000 BC the Hebrews were quite primitive. When Jesus came much later they should have been ready for a serious upgrade, but for their heavy concerns about becoming free of Roman occupation was their major preoccupation. Their main problems were the rigid power structure they created and the intense preoccupation with overturning the Roman colonization after a long period of time! Many centuries later, Mahatma Ghandi (a devotee of Paramahansa Yogananda), did not make the same mistakes when He successfully lead his country out of British occupation. More on this later!/////////////////////////////////////// It was all about the timing!
The Gita of Santana Dharma is amazing, unique, and undogmatic and contains the whole science (in brief), of the amazing Kriya Yoga methodology. Everything that JC mentions briefly, Lord Krishna explains in detail, including comments on the science of Kriya Yoga. It was and still is one of my favorite spiritual guidebooks to live by.
It is praised by great souls around the world. It is “the word of God”. It is the foundation of a true Religion of Peace! As well as India’s most beloved scripture available in most of the worlds languages. The Jewel of the Sanatana Dharma of Hindus. It is an encapsulation of all Indian sacred writ. A masterwork on Reincarnation and the science of Yoga Meditation. (As the New testament is to the Christian Bible – so the Bhagavad Gita is to the Vedas.) Hindu history bears this out very clearly, as the Sanatana Dharma [Hinduism] is the democracy of all religious thought, and in spite of millenniums of the misguided work of so many fanatical missionaries from the West, India [the holy land] is still 80% Hindu]. and there are now well over a billion followers world wide of the sacred ancient Sanatana Dharma! This “democracy of world religions “, this is was most well informed citizens of the world are turning towards! This advanced culture is being adopted by true seekers of all lands! You don’t think so?
This year attendees of India’s colossal “Maha Kumbh Mela “is estimated to attract 700,000,000 serious and curious devotees of Self -realization. It is happening now over 46 astronomically significant days…..with persons of every spiritual attitude showing up.
It was not until 6 yrs later of deep study of world religions that our own sacred Avatar (Paramahansa Yogananda) posthumously introduced himself to me [for the 3rd time,] that I finally got the whole picture right as in that moment I felt His overwhelming presence! I knew then that is was He, the worlds most recent major Avatar -Paramahansa Yogananda – had been teaching me and guiding me for more than one lifetime. I knew it was He, who is always with me. I never previously had any clear awareness of this amazing process of the immortal Guru-Disciple process. But from the moment someone dear to me placed his book (“the sayings of Yogananda”) into my hands, the strangely orchestrated happenings of all the previous years became absolutely clear to me! Each life does have a great progressive plan and purpose. The Guru-Disciple relationship is the Way the truth and the life! I now know this as I am living that life!
The Autobiography of a Yogi and the SRF Lessons elevated me to a whole new dimension of learning, Consciousness, and transformative awareness.
Since that momentous day in 1958, I have been intimately and gratefully aware that I am a personal and direct disciple of one of the 20th centuries greatest teachers/saviors. Jai to the Gurus and saintly leaders of Yogoda Sat Sangha/Self-Realization Fellowship, and all those who serve this Dharmic way.
I knew I was finally Home. When the pupil is ready the master appears! This is the beginning of true freedom and real spiritual progress. Obedience to a true Guru is the beginning of the souls ascent to psychological and spiritual enlightenment. This obedience results in an accelerated expanding freedom of thought and awareness, literally dissolving ones previous indoctrinations and false belief’s. Opening the doors of heaven, creativity, and a joyful peace.
Many years later I was visiting this same mentor (PD Frank) in Red Deer Alberta, Canada.
Our ensuing conversations over a 3 day visit caused him to finally mention that he had read Yogananda’s “Autobiography of a Yogi ” shortly before meeting me at Niagara those many years ago….and he wished to read it again!
Finally I knew where those amazing EE Yogoda exercises came from years earlier, but my mentor never once mentioned Guruji’s name till about those 35 years later. Someone gave me his number and we were able to meet again after those many years, resulting in a completion of our understanding of how Master was working in our lives. He soon read the Autobiography of a Yogi again just before he passed on in 2021.
I find it so interesting that he would ask me for a copy of the worlds most sacred book “Autobiography of a Yogi “, after so many years of not mentioning the Paramahansaji’s name. And just before His beautiful life came to a close as PDF. He read it again and passed on a few years later, another angelic friend from our divine Mother! I have had the blessing of introducing Master to several persons just before the great demise. Persons who became very serious devotees! Apparently near the end of his life he had overcome the dark indoctrinations of churchianity and was ready to move into the higher teaching of the science of Yoga. Although he did mention various things about Yogis many years previous, he was not yet ready to pursue that science. Master sent me to him as a youth to accelerate my search[a great blessing]. Master later sent me back to help him when we were older, returning the service! He was then able to appreciate the true value of Autobiography of a Yogi after seeing what it did for my life over many years. As an older an wiser seeker he could deeply appreciate the wisdom and divine presence of Paramahansa Yogananda. He passed on several years later.
In recent years I am still meeting so many sincere souls that are hungry for a true revelations found in Paramahansa Yogananda’s presence and teachings.
As it now turns out, over the years , a number of research programs have proven Yogananda’s isometric [Yogoda] system to be one of the worlds superior exercise regimens in many ways. If you want to know my sources —–Look it up yourself !
These exercises can be done anywhere sans equipment or expense! Working so directly with this pranic system, one gains the benefits of self-healing, phycological letting go, with the attunement of the consciousness within this life force, and many other benefits as described below.
The EEs (the Yogoda System) were created by Yoganandaji for His new school in India before coming to America (circa 1917). These are tension, relaxing, resistance movements. They work on every joint, muscle, nerve and sinew. It is rare that a uniquely different fitness system comes into the world. Even more rare than new religions!
Everything He brought us was effectively unique and life enhancing! Mostly based upon divinely scientific Yoga principles! Paramahansa Yogananda is this worlds most recent major living Savior / Avatar. It is such a blessing to be personally taught by one of the worlds greatest educators!
1. “Yogoda system” exercises muscle groups and is based upon Yoga principles. It is a form of Pranayam [energy control]. Working with the life force and gives you control over it. One does become more and more attuned to the cellular intelligence and prana. Knowing more and more how to be aware of and then heal your own body.
2. It gives greater normalization of blood pressure than any other system. Dr Mercola notes; “Exercise regularly — Exercise is well-known for its ability to normalize blood pressure, but all forms of exercise are not the same in this regard. A recent investigation revealed that isometric exercise[EE], where your muscles are in static contraction, is the most effective for lowering blood pressure, while aerobic exercise is next to last in terms of effectiveness.“
3. The EE [ Yogoda] not only tones the Muscles but results in nerve toning as well. Thus saving one in later life from the dangers of neuropathic diseases and early aging.
4. The EE is also a form of pranayama and effectively prepares the devotee for Yoga meditation by giving him/her greater conscious control of every body cell/muscle/nerve and the very energy [prana] that sustains them.
6. The very nature of Yogoda exercises with the repetitive actions of “letting go” and the very simple discipline of regular exercise regimen forms a very rewarding disciplinary lifestyle practice. The mind begins to copy these patterns/skills of letting go of the unreal world.
The power of “letting go” is a most valuable skill in staying free of stress and mastering techniques of meditation! So much stress is the result of not being able to “let go” of things and situations in the mind and heart!
7.The concentration on recharging body areas and your aura gives increasing inner and outer spacial awareness to ones consciousness, great meditation prepping!
8. These resistance exercises no doubt will recharge the telomeres of every bodily cell, sustaining lasting youthfulness by refreshing the DNA memory of that cell and its functions. Parts of our DNA structures are always experience various wear, tear and rebuilding processes. That’s why Master Paramahansa Yogananda for a time referred to these EE’s as “Tissue memory rebuilding.”
Healing in all manner of ways untold persons of mental in harmony, Physical diseases and Spiritual Ignorance, with untold witnesses and records left behind. I have Personally interviewed or heard from some of these reliable witnesses first hand of the many miraculous incidents that transformed and enhanced their lives and fortunes.
I hereby add testimony to millions of other devotees of a truly great Soul in our modern era, whose history is sound and unexaggerated or misrepresented by the shifting sands of time and memory. He still is a true “Living Master” working through His sincere devotees who are attuned to Him.
Yogananda Himself did these Yogoda exercises every day till He left the body in March 7,1952. Does this seem like a short life for one who has mastered time and space and all human morals and the human consciousness? Not really! You have to see the whole picture and what He genetically started off with. Some of His ancestors suffered generations of near starvation and poverty as a result of bandits and colonizers and other invaders. Know your history!
Paramahansa Yogananda’s life achievements by any measure was extraordinary and beyond genius. The life of this Avatar is an impeccable example of the divine plan in living form. Most significantly it is all recorded in recent time and the worlds most popular language. If you will ever take the trouble to fully study this amazing life in our modern times you will find out That;
Never before in Human recorded History on this amazing planet has a prophet, savior, Son of God of this stature ever left the world such a complete, verifiable, life enhancing, and spiritually transforming corpus of “The word of God” for our future burgeoning and rapidly expanding global civilizations.
This is a fully Self-Realized yogi saint out India’s Sanatana Dharmic wisdom who, less than 100 years ago was walking and talking on the streets of America [and other parts of the modern world]. He was/is a walking, talking, living example of the ideal life for the third millennium. Just like the life of Jesus that we read about in the Gospels. This time we now have the recent, advanced and most verifiable narrative.
After the publication of Paramahansa Yogananda’s acclaimed commentary on the Holy Bhagavad Gita “God Talks With Arjuna,” the renowned Indologist and Sanskrit scholar Dr. David Frawley commented as follows: “The book is a veritable encyclopedia of the spiritual life, Yogananda is best known for His known for His “Autobiography of a Yogi,” but his Gita work is of equal stature and importance. What the autobiography achieves in the realm of human experience, “God talks with Arjuna” achieves as a complete teaching for the spiritual life..” Yogananda appears as a sage of the highest order and a spiritual scientist, and Avatar of Yoga for the coming world civilization. The mark of His work will no doubt endure through the ages.”
Let it also be noted that Dr. David Frawley and co writer Dr. Sabbash Kuk, were the first of many Scholars and yogis to fully debunk the “Aryan Invasion Theory”. This theory was the misguided and misinformed effort by many Westerners to degrade the significance and truths of Indian wisdom and science, to serve the purposes of European colonization and theft of others. We now know that much of the worlds civilized and scientific knowledge emigrated from East to the West!
How amazing is the Sanskriti and its endless wisdom of the Sanatana Dharma, which has preserved Kriya Yoga for all humanity through so many thousands upon thousands of eons.
In the Christian tradition and scriptures the Holy AUM [Ommm] vibration is called “the holy spirit” and “the holy Ghost“. Whom we really know as “the Divine Mother in almost every culture of the world. Why did some primitive cultures have so much difficulty in openly recognizing the divine feminine?
Two great Sons of God [Jeshua and Bhagavan Krishna] both tell us that the holy spirit will lead us to all truth! She really comes to life in Yogananda’s memoirs in a way rarely related in this world. This may only happen when you have risen beyond the darkness of your ego and your earlier indoctrinations. “The Kingdom of God is within you.” ……”Change yourself!”
Just listening to this eternal omnipresent vibration throughout and beyond all Creation will enhance one’s sadhana. [spiritual path] With every breath and heartbeat, with every loving expression of gratitude and devotion, you too can live each moment of your day in the living presence of the Divine Mother…That same Mother that is recognized by every culture in the world. The One who is the seeming “other”, the feminine partner of “Elohim” of the Jews.
It is a Sacred practice that will eventually result in your consciousness becoming totally aware that your whole Sadhana is guided by her love. Then you will hear this vibration in every sacred in your days and nights.
Most strongly heard in your quietest interiorized moments. Your hearts intuition Awakens with this love song! It is a most pleasing and soothing vibe that one never tires of! Think of it this way – speaking the holy word AUM, which begins as a deep vibration and ends in a very fine vibration from the chest to the lips before you express your conscious expressions into infinite space.
You are exercising your inner being from the course attachment from gross matter to the finer energies of light and consciousness, from matter to spirit, from dogmatic belief to free thinking of Yoga sciences, again – from crude to fine, darkness to light, from your egos point in space to infinity. From violence to peace, from suffering to joy! This is how Ommmmm (AUM) transforms our consciousness.
The repetition of this exercise will eventually change your whole being, and if you practice this verbally, feelingly, and then mentally according to the special instructions in SRF/YSS lessons course, She will guide every aspect of your life just as she did the great Yoganandaji. Of one thing you may be assured, when you hear this divine sound, you will know that it is not a “ringing in the ears,” or any form of Tinnitus. It is sweetly unique vibration from the core of your intuition! Your unruly mind is like a dog with fur full of ticks and knots [the trauma of Karma of past experiences]. Brush the dog of your mind with the brush of Oommmm and the peace of deep meditation and eventually everything in life will become smoother, refined, and full of light. There is more than one way to become aware of your connection with the living presence of the divine mother. And Yoganandaji also speaks of these. No doubt His boundless devotion and depth of concentration also a great effect on His deep guidance, protection and awareness of Her presence in his life and work. He is not an intermediary, He is the divine presence of union that you are seeking. There is no separation! There are many chapters in the “Autobiography of a Yogi” where we see her at work. This is one of the worlds most sacred scriptures, as pure as the master wanted it to be, in perfect English and His presence is in every word. The evidence of all those pages have many modern witnesses. Especially the amazing chapter 22, where Guruji was at the Dakshineswar temple and she appeared to Him to grant Him the prayer to help his sisters sad marriage. And this soon came to be so! This is how we know that a spiritual experience is not an hallucination, but soon manifests as a living genuine real experience in our relative world. Practice listening to this sacred vibration and become aware that your existence is the same everliving spiritual part of this divine ocean. “OM Guru, OM Guru, OM Guru “= He told us this is the most powerful mantra………….. When reading Yogananda’s works, you will gain more from a real book than you will reading from a screen!

More evidence on Vaxxene harms to our immune systems.
Cleveland Clinic confirms that covid jabs systematically DESTROY the immune system, jab after jab, year after year,
This article may contain statements that reflect the opinion of the author, Please note : As of may 2025, there is an official report on the internet from recent studies that: Covid 19 vaccinated persons have a 27 % higher death rate from all causes than the unvaccinated public, by allowing your natural immune system to fight that virus, it became stranger when dealing with a range of disease. This takes great insight and courage, but the rewards continue to be great every day. Just look what India’s state medical officer accomplished with Ivermectin and a few vitamins! A State of over 200,000,000 persons . God bless Dr …….Dubey….
Bypass censorship by sharing this link: This report originates from one o f Americas largest Health Maintenance corporations. The question arises , why the fear campaign and job losses and lockdowns? Why all the false and misdirected PCR tests? Was that vaccine ever needed? The result for Canada’s covid mandate was severe tyranny against all in the medical professions, as of may 2025, Canadas health system has not yet recovered. The true policy of our prime minister was “We follow the science, ” he failed to mention that they were really following the science of Tyranny and profiteering!…….pyislove…..
(Natural News) Consistently ranked as one of the top health care providers in the United States, the Cleveland Clinic is sitting on data showing that the more a person gets “vaccinated” for covid, the worse off his or her immune function.
One of the first official sources to produce solid data about covid jab (in)effectiveness, the Cleveland Clinic is also one of the few health care providers that did not require its staff members to take the shots, which were always voluntary rather than mandatory.
Some 65,000 people work for the Cleveland Clinic, so internal company data on covid jab uptake and resulting health constitutes a case study all on its own. The outcomes of natural immunity versus jab-induced immunity are easy to see when looking at Cleveland Clinic employees as clinical trial subjects and comparing the health of unvaccinated employees to that of vaccinated employees.
Based on this, it is clear that those who got jabbed for covid are less protected against covid infection than those who left their natural immune system intact. Further, the more covid jabs you take, based on the data, the less protected you are.
The Cleveland Clinic produced a study on all this showing that the original covid injection series is not only ineffective, it is anti-effective – meaning one is better off not getting injected at all.
“It is therefore not a vaccine against the present strain of Covid,” reported The Exposé. “It is an antivaccine. It damages your immune system in a dose-dependent manner. The more shots you took, the more damage you will have done to your immune system.”
(Related: On the same day in 2018 when Merck pulled a “promising” Alzheimer’s drug from trials, the Cleveland Clinic was erroneously hailing the drug’s “success”.)
Everyone who got “vaccinated” for covid is now effectively anti-vaxxed
If boosted immunity is what the “fully vaccinated” were going for by participating in the Operation Warp Speed scam, then they failed miserably to achieve that goal. The fully jabbed now have anti-protection against covid and likely many other health conditions now that their immune systems are shot.
“Ironically, all those who are vaccinated against Covid are antivaxxed,” reported The Exposé. “And all the anti-vaxxers are NOT antivaxxed. Work that one out!”
Just as the Cleveland Clinic is releasing this damning information about the jabs, emergency ambulance services in the United Kingdom are reportedly being suspended, leaving people to die in pain without proper health care.
Much like how the relatives of sick people during covid were not allowed by the authorities to visit and provide comfort, the covid-jabbed today are suffering immune failures and finding that there is no one available to help them, leaving them to suffer and die alone in excruciating pain.
What these so-called “vaccines” are doing, we now know, is giving people vaccine-induced AIDS, or VAIDS. In the months and years to come, everyone who participated in Operation Warp Speed will learn the hard way that you can never trust Big Pharma or the government with your health, especially in the midst of a contrived “emergency” or “pandemic.”
“‘The Science’ has now been established by the Cleveland Clinic,” reports explain. “Genetic vaccines damage your immune system and make you not less likely but more likely to be infected with Covid.”
“Not only that but they have horrendous side effects on the cardiovascular, neurological and reproductive systems as well. They are nothing short of mandatory progressive euthanasia. Dr. Evil would be proud of these results.”
Time goes on, and the news gets worse about Covid 19 vax//// !
It is now reported by scientists that people who are vaxxd with mRNA have weaker immune systems and are experiencing a 27% higher death rate than unvaxxed persons. Why is it that the UP state in India ( with over 200M people), had one of the very lowest death rates while they were mostly taking vitamin C, Zinc, D3, and Ivermectin during the pandemic? Was India the only country in the world that did not sign a waiver to let Pfizer off the hook for harmful side effects caused by this improperly tested vax ? Maybe too many good doctors just got fed up with Politicians trying to tell them how to practice medicine? God bless Barbara Eddy! One of the few honest scientists who the politician shut down forever! Look it up ????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also see this following report from SW health district of Idaho October 2024
Dear patients,
The Southwest Idaho Health District will stop offering COVID vaccines at all of its clinics — because 300 people, backed up by doctors, asked them to.
It’s yet another sign that the dominoes are falling …. and time is running out for the big COVID vaccine lie.
Time is also running out for you to get in on our Million Match campaign. This message was published by Children’s Health Defense,USA
It has been shown that by detoxing the body by various means. as with soaking feet or body in warm water and Epson salts for several minutes, this procedure can boost the immune system Thus kill the covid 19 virus. That is what happened to me! xfp ……..Just do it!…… Other methods still have value, it all comes from the same infinite source! …..xfp
For those looking for a “living Guru”, the first thing to understand is that a teacher in a live body may seldom be a “spiritually living” Guru, and cannot lead you to the Reality.
This is why that perennial axiom, “when the pupil is ready the Master appears.” Who can best tell when who is ready, the pupil or the omnipresent Guru/Savior? If you believe there doesn’t need to be an intermediary between yourself and God, be aware that the true Guru is not an intermediary. He is God, one and omnipresent! Until you have grown and learned a great deal more, He is the one who is silently guiding you in your search. When you are ready He will clearly reveal Himself in this world you still imagine to be real.
So, before you go looking in all the wrong places, it may be better just to seek the best way you can. When you are ready for a truly special Spiritual Master, the One with whom your consciousness is best connected for your future accelerated spiritual growth, will surely reveal Himself to you. It can happen in your youth or in the later years of your sincere seeking for God. It will be made absolutely clear to you that your true teacher and savior knows exactly where you are in the progress of your journey. [See chapter 10 of Autobiography of a Yogi] SRF publishers orange cover only! He may be a living Master in a body of out of a body, it matters not!
A charismatic spiritually dead teacher cannot take you to the divine no matter how impressed you are about him/her. The first problem is – few persons can really tell the difference, can actually identify a living Guru/savior/Prophet. However, once a great soul achieves true Self- Realization /salvation/ full awareness of the Reality/Brahman, in this superconscious omniscience, there is no more dying then, and no more necessity of reincarnating in form.
Having a physical body to work through is no longer a necessity. This is how the “great ones”, true living Masters work with us even after their demise. Then one is the true teacher, Guru, a Living Prophet in or out of a body. History is plentiful with the evidence of this fact! This is why, even with such mastery over life and death they usually do not hang around with the physical body.
For the Guru to stay in the Relative, unreal, material world of Maya would be counterproductive & misleading to others about where salvation truly lies. And about what is really important. Since He is everliving and omnipresent, what need it there for a limiting mortal form? Then what need is there to repeat ones timeless wisdom? A second public debut is the denial of the original revelation; in the gospel of John 14, the second coming is to a small group or Individual unique soul who has mastered true love.
Reality is simply beyond the physical world of relativity, the surface world is severely limited by the narrow range of sensory experiences. So, Devotee – what do you really want, a true Guru or a position? What do you want – someone to lead you or baby sit you? Do you wish to be Self- Realized of just a common celeb?
The overwhelming evidence is, is that Paramahansa Yogananda is still a “living Guru” now, just as He was when wandering around in the body. He introduced himself to me posthumously on three separate occasions over a period of 6 years, during which I had been seriously working on myself and not consciously seeking a Guru. I was my own teacher! as soon as I took a rest from academic seeking He introduced Himself to me through a book – “The Sayings of Yogananda.” This book was left on the library table in Niagara Falls by an unknown agent of the divine.
I was not effected by ideas in the first few pages of what I read, it was His living presence that took hold of my soul by which I knew without a doubt that it was He who was behind all of my recent previous life experiences. I sent for the SRF lessons a few days later. I, and many, many others see his hand working in our lives, helping us on the path to freedom via the Self-realization Fellowship/YSS wisdom teachings.
One of the clearest declarations made by Paramahansa Yogananda was that in this tradition of Kriya Yoga there would never be another successor guru to shape this holy Kriya yoga path of SRF/YSS. There may be other teachers of Yoga & few are truly spiritually advanced, but we already have six “living Gurus” to choose from. What more do you need? If you insist on finding a guru in a body [as many do] you may end up reacting emotionally for the wrong reasons. Many wolves await you in the world of spiritual teachers! Paramahansa Yogananda’s promise to all SRF/YSS Devotees who are in tune with Him through this great SRF work. “God has sent you to me, and I shall never fail you… “Even when I am gone my help will always be given to devotees all over the world, if they keep in tune. Never think for a moment that when I am physically absent from you all, I am not otherwise with you. I shall be just as deeply concerned for your spiritual welfare when I am no longer in the body as I am now. I shall always be watching over each one of you, and whenever a true devotee thinks of me in the silent depths of his soul, he will know that I am near.”
Paramahansa Yogananda, quoted in the SRF calendar, August, 1993.
Yogananda once said to the Monastics; “The spiritual path is like a razor’s edge,” our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, used to tell us. If we want to know God, we have to endeavor to the best of our ability every day, every moment even, to focus on the straight and narrow path before us, avoiding those mistakes caused by our mortal consciousness. We have to transform that consciousness which makes us behave like petty human beings, and remember that we are made in God’s image. It takes deliberate effort not to be diverted from that razor-edged path, because in this world it is considered perfectly normal to be quarrelsome and argumentative, to be critical of others, to gossip — to indulge in all kinds of wrong behavior that springs from human nature, not from our divine nature. But one who misbehaves will never, never know peace of mind, let alone achieve God-consciousness. ” – –said Sri Daya Mata, Self-Realization Magazine, Summer 2008
Because Kriya Yoga [ and other Yogas] have become such a hot item in the world of spirituality since Yogananda came to the West over a hundred years ago, so many want to get in on the act and start their own Kriya schools. This of course is a natural occurrence is not unusual as human egos are always trying to prove themselves. Or it may also be an expression of our human individuality. Many are the motives and private agendas behind the desires of those who start new religious movements. Seeker beware! Why is the teaching of Kriya Yoga so sought after by serious devotees of Reality? Because is has proven itself so powerfully effective in transforming human lives for the better. For showing us how to contact God before death of the body and enrich our lives in the process with growing devotion and grace. For its self-transformative blessings and life enrichments. Paramahansa Yogananda was followed by many later teachers and promoters of the Mystical Kriya Yoga spiritual techniques used to enhance human evolution and spiritual awareness. I am posting these notes for the benefit of those who wish to follow the teachings and wisdom inspiration of Paramahansa Yogananda in particular. It is a core part of Yogananda’s teaching for devotees to loyally work through and support Babaji’s spiritual path of Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS. Yogananda created only one organization to further and represent his spiritual legacy in this world. That society is the Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS alone. The leaders of SRF/YSS has so far been impeccable inspirations. I am not judging what the purposes of others are. Other claims to the contrary can be false and misleading and promoted to suit the agendas and false rationalizations of others. The master said that He emphatically did not allow any successor “Gurus” in his lineage to take His place after his demise. Because this leaves new and green devotees at the risk of deception by the many lesser teachers we find in the field of religion. Ambitious persons who want power over others and are impressive talkers/writers – but have little or no God-Realization. Beware of them! Most world class prophets have made similar declarations of “lineage closure” to protect devotees from being misled by false spiritual teachers who inevitably pop up and would love to steal the show after the great work has been launched by an Avatar. In this copy-cat world there are so many half baked wannabees, so many who want to copy PY’s acclaimed successes. No organization is perfect, but I feel that SRF/YSS has avoided many of the flaws of orgs in the past that only sought power and control over others. Those other teachers lacked the spiritual understanding that was intended by their illustrious founders. SRF has continued to grow the masters spiritual community with integrity and love. His great spiritual ideals are very much alive thanks to the selfless works of so many loyal monastics and devotees.
In circa 1945, an American Journalist [[[possibly Omarr Garrison from ???? news agency]]], who was visiting the Mahatma’s Wharda ashram,[ where the emphasis was on naturopathic and Ayurvedic medicine] enquired as to why the ashram was not taking advantage of the great benefits of modern medicine? Gandhi replied, “you have no idea how much harm modern medicine has done to the human race.” Many years have passed and time shows this statement to be true, as evidenced by the covid scams of recent years !
However ,there are many doctors and scientists speaking truth on many web sites that your searches may not show up. Media and doctors have been silenced and social media has been censoring anyone who dares to say “Ivermectin.” ” monoclonal antibodies ” etc
Here is where you can find out what is really going on… thehighwiredotcom, naturalnewsdotcom, librtidotcom, mercoladotcom. thenewamericandotcom, childrenshealthdefencedotcom, newstargetdotcom, awakecanada.org, nomorecollegemandates.com Truenorthmedia.com, rebelmediadotcomm mercoladotcom, rumbledotcom, …………………………. Did you know that Mahatma Ghandi received Diksha from Paramahansa Yogananda in 1936 at His Wharda Ashram? Yes, the great Guru and his small party visited the Mahatma while on his world trip and they stayed at the community for a few days. Before they left to continue their travels, the Mahatma asked Yogananda for Diksha and the initiation into YSS energization Exercises and possibly Kriya Yoga for Himself and all of his ashram devotees. All (or most) of the ashram residents received instruction into Kriya Yoga etc, after which the Guru and his party continued on their travels in India before retuning home. Some of Ghandi’s ashes are now kept in SRF Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, California, USA. This sacred spiritual connection no doubt made some contribution during India’s independence struggles over the following 11 Years. Many years ago just prior to Yogananda leaving India for His work in America, He was asked by some freedom fighters to lead an insurrection against the British Raj as He was an educator and a known person of leadership in India. Yogananda simply replied that in the future India would be freed by peaceful means! This prophecy was one of many by the Guru that has come true!

New guidance from Canadian and American Doctors and experts show us how to let go of Covid fear! Beware of leaders and medical hacks who are still pushing the uneeded vaxinations. https://www.bitchute.com/video/nQgq0BxXfZ4f/
New guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has put an end to mandatory Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “vaccination” – at least as far as the CDC is concerned. New fifth circuit court hearings [August 2023] in the USA where FDA lawyers have been testifying that “Ivermectin” is perfectly safe and effective for the treatment of covid-19, and always has been approved for off label use. [Check on internet for Louisiana and Alabama court transcripts]. See the highwire dotcom media site also…… Those in charge of USA government agencies are seldom in the court as they are the ones that were steering doctors ]with threats]away from the use of anything that was not the latest untested vaccine. The main source of misinformation in the last 3 years has been US government agency heads! Fearmongering and coercion has been the chief tool pushing the science of profiteering!
No longer is the CDC urging or trying to force everyone in the “herd” to get jabbed. From now on, it is up to the individuals to make the choice for themselves without the government telling them what to do. The chart below will tell you what is safe and what is dangerous…
Entitled “Guidance for Minimizing the Impact of Covid-19,” the CDC’s new release, as explained by NPR, includes the following recommendations:
Those exposed to the virus are no longer required to quarantine.
Unvaccinated people now have the same guidance as vaccinated people.
Students can stay in class after being exposed to the virus.
It is no longer recommended to screen (test) those without symptoms.
Other new recommendations include only masking if you have been exposed to or tested “positive” for Chinese Germs, as well as official recognition by the CDC that a healthy person who is unvaccinated now has the same immunity as a fully jabbed person.
These changes represent a major deviation from what the CDC has been pushing up until, well, now. For the past two years, the CDC did not want anyone to appear in public unmasked. It also wanted everyone to be force-injected in order to live. (Related: At one point, there was talk about the CDC setting up covid “Green Zone” quarantine [concentration?] camps.)
Now, suddenly, the CDC is stressing the idea of individual decision-making when it comes to health. In fact, the CDC mentions the word individual some 10 different times in the new guidance.
“That is consistent with where we are in the pandemic right now,” says Dr. Marcus Plescia, chief medical officer for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. “I don’t really think there are many state or local jurisdictions that are feeling they’re going to need to start making mandates.”
CDC says almost everyone is now immune to covid – the plandemic is over
The CDC’s Greta Massetti further explained that the agency’s new position is that, vaccinated or unvaccinated, at least 95 percent of the general population is now fully immune to the Fauci Flu, and that no further tyranny is necessary.
“Based on the latest … data, it’s around 95 percent of the population,” she is quoted as saying. “And so, it really makes the most sense to not differentiate.”
One area of concern with the CDC’s new guidance is the recommendation that children at school be masked rather than quarantined after being so-called “exposed” to the virus.
“The practice of handling exposures would involve masking rather than a quarantine,” Massetti said about how children in K-12 should be handled.
Massetti stopped short of declaring the plandemic to be over in the same way this writer is, but she did essentially declare it to be over in so many words – at least as far as everyday life is concerned.
“This guidance acknowledges that the pandemic is not over, but also helps us move to a point where Covid-19 no longer severely disrupts our daily lives,” Massetti said. “We know that Covid-19 is here to stay.”
Truthfully, there never should have been any disruption in the first place. While it is great that the CDC is backing off from medical fascism, the damage is already done in the form of economic devastation, lost lives and livelihoods, and broken supply chains.
“How many poor souls could have been saved if this happened from the beginning?” asked a commenter. “The lawyers stand to make billions on this in lawsuits.”

On this auspicious “International Day of Yoga” June 21, 2022, we seekers and devotees are honoring the life enhancing Science of Kriya Yoga on this beautiful dream planet in infinite space.
The world honors the holy life and legacy of Paramahansa Yogananda [founder of Self-Realization Fellowship /Yogoda Sat Sangha] on planet Earth during the 20th century. Who shared the example and wisdom of “Kriya Yoga science with all nations and persons outside of Holy Hindustan during the 20th century.
He is a Living Savior/Avatar for the present millennia and the ages to come. See the film “Awake. The life of Yogananda”. His life is a unique occurrence in human spiritual history, as never before was recorded such and extensive, fully verifiable, and noble life been recorded for the human race. Since His history is so recent and complete in its presentation, not much was ever distorted or misplaced. He was a perfect example of a life of divine Self-Realization! (the kingdom of God).
This unique film “Awake – the life of Yogananda” released in 2014 by Counterpoint Films is available through Self-Realization Fellowship and other sources to watch or purchase.
Through SRF/YSS the great masters Legacy is now represented by 800 centers & spanning over 172 countries and most continents. His inspiring wisdom and uniquely divine example and ideal life continues to inspire millions of seekers and serious devotees world -wide.
The great master posthumously introduced himself to me through those close to me and a book about His wisdom entitled “The Sayings of Yogananda.” Very shortly after his demise he began bringing many influences into my life setting my consciousness afire with an ever rewarding spiritual quest.
This was a great milestone in my personal search for truth and divine love. I was never consciously seeking a guru at any time, but I had some understanding of what that relationship was. He knew that I was ready to learn and grow further. In a most vivid and powerful way He posthumously introduced Himself to me.
After about 6 previous years of intensive study of world religions and saints – in a flash I was aware that the many amazing answers and helpers that came to me were under the personal guidance of my savior and living Guru -Paramahansa Yogananda. Through the great agency of the divine mother.
I immediately sent for the SRF Lessons course and began the next momentous step in my long journey to Self-Realization. With daily study and meditations I went from the darkness of dogmatism to the light of “Science of Religion.”
Many wonderful changes and experiences will come to the devotee who loyally and faithfully persists in following this great path of Kriya Yoga. I can clearly state this after many years of steady practice. Life just becomes more and more rewarding and beautiful each day in so many ways. Ones expanded awareness gives deeper insights and understanding of each personal experience.
Many persons begin by reading His “Autobiography of a Yogi” published by Self-Realization Publishers LA USA. Of course now there is a whole library of Yoganandaji’s wisdom to refer to.
The unique features about the life and legacy of Yogananda are not only His superhuman expansion of consciousness to the highest Samadhi, but even more so the accurately retained wisdom that was faithfully passed on by SRF/YSS about His life and Legacy. And the lives of his divine predecessors and successors.
He is recognized as one of the worlds many great saviors we know of through the past several millennia. This is one of most accurate, complete, and detailed life records of one such Avatar/savior. The history of his life and lineage now less that 150 years old – hardly a word of his legacy was lost to Antiquity. His voice, image, and experiences were mostly well recorded, witnessed, and documented. And clearly survive with the living examples of His successors and recorded historical Legacy. It was my good fortune to have personally met some of those great souls who lived and worked with the Master. From them I was told of His most wonderful life first hand. He is incomparable and still works through our lives every day.
If you really want to know the living presence and essence of Yoganandji and his ever expanding love, it will not come by intellectual study alone, but it manifests in the life of any loyal and devoted devotee who understand the import and great awareness of His living presence. The more we meditate and read mostly or only His wisdom record, the more perfectly we become attuned to his everliving omnipresence every moment. Just imagine how beautiful that is!
Attunement with a true Guru/Savior enhances ones life in many ways and brings true freedom from the darkness and delusions and confusions of this world enshrouded Mayic dream. This unreality is being especially imposed upon everyone in this modern politicized “Brave New World “. That Future world now taking shape that Aldous Huxley , Orson Wells, Yogananda and others warned us about. This modern threat of mass human slavery is appearing to be at the doors of civilization. Then you realize you are no longer “one of the many” on the road that leads to destruction” as JC said.
This miracle to witness was one of the great blessings to shower my simple life as a householder yogi.
In the very advanced science of Kriya Yoga taught to us and demonstrated by Paramahansa Yogananda, we can build our own “portable paradise”. This is the inner “Kingdom Heaven” oft proclaimed in the scriptures. When you find this great well of pure water -dig deeper and deeper – and keep drinking. It is so much better that those who just keep digging shallow wells and never experience the joy of real pure water. Too many devotees just keep chasing after each new teacher that attract a little attention. There never was only one way, one perfect holy book, or one savior for mankind ! Changing oneself is the greatest human adventure, your contribution to changing the world!
His codewords were -“Meditate, Meditate, Meditate “!

Savior of modern times and for the ages to come Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda
https://www.facebook.com/ Sorry this interesting video is no longer on the net, to get this true data , go to this site: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=john+campbell+natural+immunity also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjfR44szh4o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THv33zWykJc Special notes as of July 20 2022 by Pyislove, as of this date, we have learned from the worlds top Medical Scientists that the covid vaccines are weakening the human immune systems, and causing many deaths from increasing blood clotting, problems in heart , lungs, and brain etc. Natural immunity has turned out to be equal to or better than the vaccines of short lived immunity. We also now know that repurposed drugs such as ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, and monoclonal antibodies , etc. are totally safe and effective in eliminating deaths and illness for Covid 19. They also cost a small fraction of the presently failing latest vaccines.
Only those who have been following the science of profiteering are pushing the “vaccine narratives.” Children who are rarely effected by this virus and its mutations seem to have no need of the jab! Corporations, politicians , hospital executives, and many other hacks in the medical field have profited from endless false information campaigns over the last 2 years. All at the taxpayers expense !
First of all 90% of devotees would not know what an “avatar ” is, they just like to do “ego bragging” about their great choices on a situation their imagination has no grasp on.
Self-Realization Fellowship, Encinitas. Yogananda was distressed to note the disappearance of the “For Sale” sign upon His return from India in 1935.
If anyone ever writes a Guidebook to Supernatural San Diego, one chapter will have to be set on the bluff in Encinitas where the coastline takes a bend eastward. The Self-Realization Fellowship owns about 13 acres there, property which overlooks a breathtaking expanse of the ocean and stretches, on its eastern perimeter, for a full city block along Highway 101. Three gigantic lotus towers painted gold and protected with a shiny coat of epoxy demand the attention of passing motorists. It is near the northernmost structure that one eerie episode occurred.
Yogananda writing his autobiography. Now in over 65 languages 2024 “He used to go across Highway 101 and visit with the people in the restaurant.”
To learn more about it, I was told by a local religious scholar that I should talk to an Encinitas businesswoman whom I’ll call To’chula. Over the phone, she sounded cautious. The incident in question had been quite personal, and she disliked the thought of public attention. With the promise of anonymity, however, she described what had happened.
Paramahansa Yogananda, photo, an hour before his death, March 7, 1952
Enigma In a Turbin
Now 47, To’chula is a Native American who has immersed herself in religious and philosophical study since she was in her late 20s. But she says she knew nothing about Paramahansa Yogananda a dozen or so years ago, when she and a friend went to lunch one day at the “Old Shepherd “restaurant, a vegetarian café fronting the highway just a few doors north of the Fellowship property. To’chula states, “I never had seen Yogananda’s likeness in any way, and I never had studied the teachings of the Fellowship” (which Yogananda founded in 1920).

Nevertheless, as she ate her lunch that day, she began to sense the presence of someone standing in back of her. She thought at first that a waiter was hovering near the door that led into the restaurant kitchen. “But it persisted for 30 to 45 seconds,” To’chula recalls. At last she turned around to look. She saw something floating in the air that she describes as looking like a bull’s eye. “It was all the colors of the rainbow, and it was pulsating. And in the middle of it was a man.”

The image seemed holographic, she elaborates, “like the Flaunted Mansion in Disneyland where they have the people dancing.” At the sight, she drew in her breath in a gasp so loud that it was almost a scream. The other restaurant patrons turned to stare at her. And the man, she says, vanished. “Then I experienced the most extraordinary series of physical reactions. First I started laughing hysterically. Then I cried. Then I started shaking, all within a two-minute period.” To’chula’s friend pointed out a painting of Yogananda on the wall of the restaurant that To’chula had not noticed before. It was the very image of the being who had materialized before the distraught woman.

Continued; And why not? Anyone who has read the life story of this Indian mystic might ask why he hasn’t put in more appearances at the Encinitas site that meant so much to him. It was on these grounds, in rooms preserved today just as he left them, that Yogananda dictated his “Autobiography of a Yogi,” the spiritual chronicle studded with miraculous occurrences (most of them in India), which has since been translated into 60 languages. Said a Nun. The seaside group includes a dozen nuns and 20 or so monks.
( Continued) Yogananda didn’t die in Encinitas, but at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles in 1952, at the age of 59. “Some of his disciples made fools of themselves. They said he was not dead, but just in samadhi [a higher state of consciousness in which the person more or less withdraws from the senses]. He was dead,” snaps Omar Garrison, a British-educated journalist who met Yogananda around 1937 and became a close friend, though not a formal disciple, of the guru.

Continued– Garrison now lives in retirement in Utah, but at the time of Yogananda’s death he was writing for the Los Angeles Mirror. He reacted like a journalist when he learned from one of the employees at Forest Lawn Cemetery that Yogananda’s body seemed to be resisting the normal postmortem deterioration. Garrison broke the story, which he says was viewed as “somewhat of a scandal.” (He says the cemetery workers weren’t supposed to be gossiping about their deceased clientele.)

The episode still lives on in an appendix to Yogananda’s Autobiography in which extracts from a notarized letter are printed. Written by one Harry T. Rowe, Forest Lawn’s mortuary director in 1952, the letter states that “At the time of receiving Yogananda’s body, the mortuary personnel expected to observe, through the glass lid of the casket, the usual progressive signs of bodily decay.”
Instead, Rowe wrote, day after day passed with no sign of any mold upon the dead man’s skin, “no visible desiccation took place in the bodily tissues…. No odor of decay emanated from his body at any time…. The physical appearance of Yogananda on March 27th, just before the bronze cover of the casket was put into position, was the same as it had been on March 7th.” Concluded the mortician, “The case of Paramahansa Yogananda is unique in our experience.”
Many aspects of Yogananda’s life were unique, including the saga of how he came to take up residence on the Encinitas bluff. That story too has a supernatural element; it began with a transcontinental vision.
According to the Autobiography, “enigmatic glimpses of three buildings” had come since early youth to Mukunda Lai Ghosh, the second son and fourth child of a prosperous middle-class family who lived near the Himalaya Mountains in northeastern India. One of those buildings was “a sylvan retreat on a plain.” Another sat on a hilltop, while the third overlooked the sea. None figured in the life of young Mukunda, whose father was an executive of the Bengal-Nagpur Railway and whose mother bore eight children. But vivid otherworldly images were a fixture of the boy’s earliest existence. “Clear recollections came to me of a distant life in which I had been a yogi amid the Himalayan snows,” he would later write. By the age of eight, he had already experienced a miraculous healing. “While at our family estate in Ichapur, Bengal, I was stricken with Asiatic cholera,” the Autobiography recounts. “My life was despaired of; the doctors could do nothing.” At his bedside, Mukunda’s frantic mother ordered him to “bow mentally” to a photograph of her guru, a man named Lahiri Mahasaya. “I gazed at his photograph and saw there a blinding light, enveloping my body and the entire room. My nausea and other uncontrollable symptoms disappeared,” Yogananda wrote. “I had instantly recovered from a usually fatal disease.”
He had many other religious experiences, and the boy resolved to devote all his attention to God. That goal clashed with his father’s educational plans for him, and there followed many years during which Mukunda flirted again and again with academic catastrophe, as he directed his attention and energy to spiritual rather than intellectual inquiries. It was soon after his near-miraculous graduation from high school that he found a spiritual master in the form of a swami known as Sri Yukteswar. Much to Mukunda’s dismay, this guru also urged the youth to go on to college. (“Someday you will go to the West,” he was said to have told Mukunda, adding, “Its people will be more receptive to India’s ancient wisdom if the strange Hindu teacher has a university degree.”)
Mukunda received an A.B. degree from Calcutta University in 1915, and a few weeks later, Sri Yukteswar initiated him into the Swami Order, an ancient form of Indian monkhood, which, among other things, requires the selection of a new name. (Yogananda’s choice means bliss [ananda] through divine union [yoga]). “The ideal of selfless service to all mankind and of renunciation of personal ties and ambitions leads most swamis to engage actively in humanitarian and educational work,” explains the Autobiography. It didn’t take the new monk long to find such a project. Yogananda started schools, beginning with a small one in the Bengal countryside but soon winning the patronage of a local maharaja. With the rich man’s aid, Yogananda was able to move to a palace set on a 25-acre estate in the town of Ranchi, about 200 miles from Calcutta. In this, the “building on a sylvan plain,” he could accommodate 100 youthful boarders, but at the end of his first year, “applications for admission had reached 2000.”
Yogananda records that this success was interrupted one day while he was meditating behind some dusty boxes in the storeroom of the Ranchi school. (“A private spot was difficult to find during those busy years with the youngsters!”) At once his “inward view” was filled with “a panorama of Western faces,” which caused him to exclaim, “Surely these people are Americans!” The vision continued, Yogananda writes. “A vast multitude, gazing at me intently, swept actor-like across the stage of consciousness.” Seconds later, when one of the schoolboys discovered his hiding place, Yogananda told the child that the Lord was calling him to America. Within hours, according to the Autobiography, he was on a train bound for Calcutta, where he says the next day he got an invitation to serve as India’s delegate to the International Congress of Religious Liberals about to be held in Boston.
Yogananda’s beneficent father interceded with a check, and the young swami scrambled to get a passport. In August 1920, he pulled away from the shore of India aboard The City of Sparta, the first passenger ship bound for America after World War I. Two months later, he disembarked at Boston Harbor and on October 6 gave his speech to the assembly of religious leaders.
In many ways, Yogananda’s audience was well-primed to hear his message. The Vedas and Upanishads had been translated into English by the beginning of the 1800s, and those sacred Hindu scriptures had influenced many American religious leaders (including Ralph Waldo Emerson) long before any Hindu arrived in the New World with an eye to starting some formal organization here. Yogananda wasn’t the first such East Indian to do that. He was preceded by a charismatic young swami named Vivekenanda, who attended the 1893 Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Vivekenanda later drew crowds on a lecture tour that took him throughout the country, and within a year or so the Vedanta Society sprang into existence and grew quickly. According to J. Gordon Melton’s Encyclopedia of American Religions, others also helped popularize Hinduism in the first years of this century, including an American named Peter Coon, who became well-known as “Oom the Omnipotent.” (By 1910, Coon opened a New York Sanskrit College, where he combined the teaching of yoga, Hindu philosophy, and the giving of advice on sex to a following that included some wealthy socialites.)
As strange as the turban-bedecked Yogananda must have looked in Boston in 1920, his ideas thus weren’t altogether alien. Moreover, his particular message—that both Eastern and Western teachings contain the same essential truth — went over just fine with the Unitarians who had sponsored the Boston conclave. Yogananda also soon discovered that ordinary New Englanders were interested in his thoughts. “Because of Father’s generous check, I was able to remain in America after the congress was over,” he later recorded in the Autobiography. “Three happy years were spent in humble circumstances in Boston. I gave public lectures, taught classes, and wrote a book of poems. The president of the College of the City of New York contributed the preface for the latter.
It’s curious that out of the almost 600 pages that constitute Yogananda’s autobiography (published in 1946), the swami devotes only about eight pages to the 15 years that followed his arrival in America. Those are the years in which he stepped into the limelight and founded his own religion, years in which he acquired a number of rich and powerful patrons and thousands of ordinary followers, many of whom regarded him as almost a living god. Yogananda paid a visit to the White House (in 1927), yet he forewent recording any of his impressions of Coolidge. (He instead devotes five of the eight pages covering 1920-1935 to discussing his great admirer, the plant breeder Luther Burbank, whom Yogananda regarded in turn as a “saint.”)
Whatever the reason underlying his reticence, Yogananda seems to have communicated it to his followers, who today number in the hundreds of thousands worldwide (according to a spokeswoman at the Fellowship headquarters in Los Angeles). No book has ever been written about Yogananda other than his own account, and despite the fact that he lived in Encinitas for at least ten years. A few years later, author Phillip Goldberg wrote a biography of Yogananda’s life, followed by many filmed interviews. Fellowship leaders there say they have no documents recording his years on the premises. When I asked for access to any records in Los Angeles, officials turned me down, polite but immovable. I was shown a 30-minute version of a two-hour video about Yogananda produced by the Fellowship. Yet once again, facts about the religious leader’s life in America were scarce. The production instead focuses on Yogananda’s disciples—everyone from Fellowship monks and nuns to the actor Dennis Weaver — all describing their emotional reactions to the leader.
Many mention his striking physical appearance, in particular his eyes. Large, dark, and heavy-lidded, they look (in photos) filled with a languid bliss. Set in a face that remained smooth and glowing well into the swami’s later years, it’s hard to imagine being pinned by them in a stare that was sharp or searching.
Instead his gaze is misty, humorous, benevolent. Striking too is the cataract of blue-black hair that flowed in waves down to his shoulder blades. Although Yogananda sometimes donned a business suit, he more often wore orange silk robes, which concealed a figure that was always chubby, at the least. He loved to eat, according to people who knew him, and later pictures reveal a wide girth and a double chin.
Yet he had a physical strength that could be astonishing, according to Brother Mitrananda, a Fellowship monk for 25 years and one of the leaders of the Encinitas ashram. Mitrananda never knew Yogananda in person, but he says he’s heard stories about Yogananda’s lecture tours. The swami would often line up a group of men on stage, then urge them to try to push him over. “And they couldn’t,” says Mitrananda. However, “with his stomach he would just knock them all back. He did this kind of thing in the beginning, but then he saw that it was really sensationalistic…just a P.T. Barnum kind of thing. And so he stopped it.”
Mitrananda says other factors helped insure Yogananda’s success when he left Boston in 1924 and set off across the nation.
He always advertised in local newspapers, and Mitrananda says Yogananda also had gained entry into a network of influential New Yorkers. He somehow met John Barron, the founder of the Wall Street Journal. Amelita Galli-Curci, the most famous opera singer of the day, was enthralled by him and introduced the swami to other glittering cultural and political figures. “He met Woodrow Wilson’s daughter,” says Mitrananda. “He met the daughter of Leo Tolstoy. There were lots of people who knew lots of people, so when he traveled, he would be introduced to the mayor. We see pictures of him with car dealers who’d give him a car for the week. Everybody wanted on this bandwagon because he was so personable.”
By the end of 1924 he’d reached California, where he visited Luther Burbank at Burbank’s home in Santa Rosa. In January of 1925, Yogananda sailed onto the pages of the Los Angeles Daily Times in a story announcing that he’d been the guest of honor at a private banquet held at the Biltmore. The story also informed readers that Yogananda was about to give a series of talks dealing with “such subjects as mastering the subconscious by the superconscious, scientific spiritual healing, highest technique of concentration, and other talks of like character.”
On the day before Yogananda’s first lecture, a prominent ad in the paper’s “Theaters, Amusements, and Entertainments” section stated that “MILLIONS HAVE MARVELLED AT THE WONDER MESSAGE of this saint of the Far East sent by a reigning prince of India the Maharajah of Kasimbazar — SWAMI YOGANANDA — Admission Free.” “Come Early! Thousands turned away,” the next day’s ad warned. When the newspaper dispatched a reporter to the proceedings, she reported that Yogananda “drew an immense crowd” to the Music-Arts Hall. “Sponsored as he is by so many local lights, including Capt. and Mrs. Richmond Pearson Hobson, Mrs. Rufus von KleinSmid, Mrs. Isadore Dockweiler, Mrs. Willoughby Rodman, Harry Haldeman and others too numerous to list, my own curiosity was duly whetted with the rest,” the reporter gushed.
What they got was the swami, “clad in a peach-colored silk robe, wearing his black curly hair long and hanging about his shoulders, and a wristwatch upon his left hand. Swami Yogananda is not tall, and neither is he thin and emaciated as some Indian teachers who have visited us have been. On the contrary, an air of prosperous well-being pervades him.” Besides a lengthy discussion of Yogananda’s thoughts on “Raja Yogo” (as the writer misheard it), she also noted some clues to the speaker’s apparent affluence. Although admission was free, a “freewill offering” was solicited and audience members were urged to buy the speaker’s portrait for $2 apiece (the equivalent of about $16 today) along with books and pamphlets. The reporter also noted that “the Swami gives this precious knowledge of his methods in 12 lessons for $25 (more than $200 in 1994 dollars] — and his courses are already so crowded that it is difficult to secure a hall large enough.”
Whether it was the effusive reception, the congenial weather, or some other factor that swayed him, Yogananda decided to stay in Los Angeles, and sometime in 1925 he brought to life the second architectural element from his early visions — the building on a hilltop — by buying a large piece of property on Mt. Washington, overlooking Pasadena, Glendale, and Dodger Stadium. The Mt. Washington site contained a building that had been a famous old resort hotel. “They used to have a cog railway up to it, and famous tennis matches were played there,” says Brother Mitrananda, the monk in Encinitas. He says that soon after Yogananda acquired the property, he invited a group of city officials to visit him there — even though he hadn’t yet had time to furnish the place with such basics as a table and silverware. But Yogananda’s self-confidence was unshakable. “He said, ‘Come on, we’re going to do just like we do in India!’ And they sat on the ground and he served them on banana leaves, and they thought it all was just ever so charming.”
That every official in L.A. was not dazzled by the swami seems apparent from a series of articles that appeared in the Times in 1928. “Cult To Be Subject of New Inquiry,” announced one. It stated that although the district attorney’s office some months before had looked into the practices at the Mt. Washington center and had found “nothing criminal,” another investigation was being launched “to establish if any juvenile laws are being violated at the Hindu cuh headquarters.” A few days later, a longer article alluded to “accusations that a love-cult is being conducted under the cloak of the Vedantic religion of India” and elaborated, “The interest of the District Attorney’s office in the asserted love-cult activity is said to be centered on whether young girls were included in the various classes in which love and sex theories are declared to be unfolded.”
If the D.A. ever discovered any wrongdoing, no record of it survives in the indices to the old Times articles. And it seems unlikely that any loose behavior was occurring; Yogananda’s writings suggest he himself was a lifelong celibate whose attitude toward sex fell somewhere between mild dislike and repulsion.
But Los Angeles wasn’t the only place where racy rumors swirled around the guru. At the very same time that the L.A. district attorney’s minions were poking their noses into the classrooms at Mt. Washington, Yogananda was in Miami — caught up in a scandal whose repercussions reached as far as the New York Times. One of its front-page stories on January 4, 1928, told how Miami officials and police were ordering Yogananda not to speak publicly in the Florida city because they thought if he did, “violence might result,” instigated by husbands enraged over their wives paying the guru up to $35 for lessons. One irate gentleman reportedly told the police chief “that if he found his wife at the lecture he would kill Yogananda. He said he had asked his wife not to attend…but she had said she would do so if the Swami appeared,” the article stated. “The son of another woman reported that he had found his mother trying to walk on the Miami River because ‘Yogananda told her she could do it.’ ” Despite testimony from a former California congressman that Yogananda was “one of the most godly men he ever knew,” along with other legal efforts, Yogananda finally left Miami, in compliance with police orders.
Yogananda’s Los Angeles organization nonetheless continued to grow, as did interest in India among Southland residents. By the end of 1932, the religion editor of the Los Angeles Times was declaring, “Today there are more swamis to the square mile in Southern California than in any other section of the country.” Of them, “the most spectacular” was Yogananda, the editor wrote.
Yogananda made some trips down to San Diego County during this period. For example, he gave eight “soul-stirring free lectures” on the subject of “everlasting youth” in April of 1932 in the ballroom of the Hotel San Diego. And it must have been around then that he discovered the undeveloped Encinitas acreage, which he proclaimed to be the ocean-view setting from his childhood vision. “He thought it was an enchanted spot,” says Omar Garrison, Yogananda’s journalist friend, who recalls that the guru had a mobile home custom-built for him by the Pullman Company, which he would park up on top of the cliffs. “He meditated there,” says Garrison. But although the property was for sale, Yogananda didn’t have enough money to buy it, say Fellowship spokespersons today. He did have a rich disciple named James J. Lynn, an oil and insurance executive who paid for the swami to make a 16-month return visit to India, which began in June of 1935. During Yogananda’s absence, Lynn also secretly purchased the land in Encinitas, then oversaw the construction of a luxurious retreat there.
Lynn managed to astonish the guru with his homecoming gift, despite Yogananda’s claims of being able to see into the deepest corners of his disciples’ souls. The monks and nuns who live on the property today tell the story of how Lynn drove the religious leader down to Encinitas; of how distressed Yogananda was to note the disappearance of the “For Sale” sign; how indignant to see that someone had built there; how speechless when he realized that the building was his. Today this Hermitage, as it is called, lies at the end of the long driveway that enters the grounds from K Street; most of the time, a sign announces it is off-limits to visitors (unlike the magnificent Meditation Gardens, open daily). But from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. most Sundays, the forbidding sign is removed and the Hermitage doors open.
From the outside, the building where Yogananda lived and worked seems a simple, very Southern Californian construction: two stories frosted with white stucco and topped with red clay roof tiles; encircled by a thick border of pink and white begonias, mature palms, and twisting junipers. But just inside the double-doored front entrance, visitors face a carpeted stairway so wide that it feels ceremonial. Only at the top of the 14 steps does the logic of the building become apparent: the upper rooms command the clifftop, letting in enormities of sea and sky through tall, wood-framed windows. There’s a huge, formal dining room and an even larger salon. A short corridor leads to Yogananda’s small study and bedroom. Braided silken ropes guard the doorways and lie over most of the furniture.
Closer inspection brings into focus sumptuous details: teakwood tables and ebony chairs carved with fantastic Oriental friezes; a gorgeous brass filigree floor lamp; a Tibetan brazier made of brass, silver, and gold. The artworks, the touches of exotica — rare seashells, for example, arranged on a bearskin rug in the study — all seem the trappings of some wealthy, well-traveled collector. (Most were gifts, Yogananda’s followers say.) Against such splendor, the few personal items like the polished brown leather bedroom slippers tucked next to Yogananda’s bed somehow look staged.
Yet Yogananda’s followers say Lynn conceived of the Hermitage as a very personal refuge indeed, a place where Yogananda could escape in solitude. They say Yogananda did in fact spend a few weeks alone here after Lynn unveiled his surprise but that the swami soon wanted to share the delights of the place with friends and disciples. And so the Golden World Colony, as it became known, developed into the central base for Yogananda’s activities. Plans were announced for retreat facilities that would be open to all the Fellowship’s members (then estimated at 150,000) and throughout 1937 the swami directed the construction of a temple adjoining the gardens being planted just north of the colony’s living quarters. This temple was to sit on the highest knoll on the estate, right out on the cliff edge. By October of 1937, it was complete enough for the San Diego Union to judge it “one of the most unusual and beautiful [temples] in the world.”
Christened the Golden Lotus Temple of All Religions, the building was massive. Huge lotus buds encrusted with gold leaf sprouted from a roof that was open to meditating devotees. A four-story glass tower also rose like a lighthouse next to the central structure, inside which “hundreds” could “enjoy the ocean view thru the panoramic windows,” so declares a flyer written not long after the dedication. The flyer adds that a “blue tile altar” beneath one of the windows supported the statues of Christ, Krishna, St. Francis, Buddha, Zoroaster, Mohammed, Rama, ERRATA. SHOULD READ; “The altar supports; Lahiri Mahasaya, Mahavatar Babaji, Jesus Christ, Paramahansa Yogananda, and Swami SriYukteswar”, and several other Indian religious figures. Altar A large pool situated on the side of the temple mirrored the whole complex “like a lovely dream.”
Looking back, I have to wonder how Yogananda, with his vaunted psychic powers, failed to recognize just how short a time the dream was to last. Almost at once, auguries appeared that were visible to Clarence Darrough. Darrough, now 81, lives near the top of Mt. Palomar, but back in 1938, his home was Encinitas, just a mile and a half away from the new place of worship. A construction supervisor, he had watched as first the Hermitage and then the temple took shape, and he’d even donated a number of Torrey pines to be planted on the grounds. But he noted with concern that “a regular lake” would appear on the property after every heavy rain. Darrough says the county had built K Street in such a way that rainwater could not drain from it but seeped into the ground and flowed west toward the cliffs on whose edge Yogananda’s temple perched.
Darrough says he’d met Yogananda a number of times at the truck stop across Highway 101 from the Fellowship property. “He used to go over and visit with the people in the restaurant. Oh, he was very personable!” recalls the retired construction supervisor. But Darrough says what really brought him and Yogananda together were the swami’s mounting concerns during the winter of 1941 -’42. Storms that season were fierce.
“It rained for seven days and nights at one point,” the old man recalls. Around 10:30 on the night of July 21, 1942, Darrough got a call from someone at the Hermitage expressing concern about the temple’s prospects for survival. Darrough says when he dressed and hastened to the property, he found the bluff collapsed and the temple clinging to the edge of it, canted at a 45-degree angle toward the sea, and inching downward. When the war had broken out the previous December, naval authorities had forced the Fellowship members to cover the golden domes with white cloth, to foil any Japanese bombers looking for a landmark. Now Darrough and a small band of other rescue workers worked through the night to remove these great sheathed baubles, along with the stained glass windows, oak pews, Oriental rugs, and other valuable interior furnishings.
The building itself couldn’t be saved, crashing within hours down the cliff. After the disaster, Darrough says he urged Yogananda to’sue the county. The swami did so, asking $50,000 for damages, but the complaint was dismissed by both the local and appellate courts.
Darrough today believes Yogananda lost due to prejudice. He says he saw the same attitudes among some of his neighbors in Encinitas. “In a small town, someone will criticize the sun coming up. In this case, they didn’t want yogis coming in. And oh! The insulting remarks that were made!” Such remarks continued right up to when Darrough was serving on the San Dieguito High School school board and took it upon himself to invite the swami to give the invocation and benediction at the school’s graduation ceremonies. “The community had not yet fully accepted the Self-Realization group, and it certainly wasn’t because the members weren’t doing their part,” Darrough asserts. But Yogananda wound up delivering “just the most beautiful invocation that I think anybody ever heard. I would say that the next day the sun came up on a whole new community, to the point where you didn’t hear the slurs anymore. It was a turning point.”
And counterbalancing the loss of the temple were other triumphs. In September of 1943, Yogananda opened a new house of prayer in a graceful building just north of downtown San Diego, and for the rest of the decade, he conducted services there on alternate Sundays. (He also presided over a Hollywood temple that had opened in 1942. Journalist Omar Garrison says the swami made the four- to five-hour commute in one of a number of the Fellowship’s cars, driven by a Mexican chauffeur.) Occasional lecture tours continued to take him farther afield, but famous admirers also made their way to the succulent Indian banquets served in the Hermitage dining room. Among them, says Brother Mitrananda, were movie stars Greta Garbo and Ramon Navarro, conductor Leopold Stokowski, dancer Ruth St. Denis, religious scholar Walter Evans-Wentz, and opera singer Amelita Galli-Curci, who moved to San Diego County to be closer to her guru/idol.
By the middle of the 1940s, Yogananda was also immersed in the creation of his epic autobiography. “He would dictate this thing for hours on end,” sometimes straight throughout the night, recalls Garrison. “It was a continuous operation. The man had incredible stamina. He wore out secretaries.”
Garrison says he discovered that one of those amanuenses, one Miss L.V. Fratt (later known as Tara Mata), was editing the guru’s discourses with a rather heavy hand. Garrison says he exploded, “Don’t let her change anything! She thinks she knows more than you. And she doesn’t.” He says Yogananda came to agree with him, and Garrison offers the opinion, “It’s the sincerity of the book that makes it.”
The Autobiography does resound with simple declarations that convey an artless sense of innocence. The tone contributes to carrying the reader through Yogananda’s recollections of one supernatural feat after another, performed by such characters as the Perfume Saint (who made scents appear and extracted objects out of thin air), the Tiger Swami (who fought the big cats with his bare hands), and the levitating Saint (who not only defied gravity but also once performed a series of breathing exercises in front of Yogananda “with such amazing force that it seemed that an actual storm had arisen in the room!”). Upon the book’s 1946 publication, both Time and Newsweek took notice, though Time‘s review (“Here Comes the Yogiman”) couldn’t quite keep the smirk out of its tone. (While acknowledging that the dearth of swami autobiographies made Yogananda’s contribution “something of a document,” it “is not likely to give the uninitiated much insight into India’s ancient teachings,” Time sniffed, adding that such literary followers of Indian philosophy as Aldous Huxley, Christopher Isherwood, and Gerald Heard viewed Yogananda with contempt.)
Public demand for the book far exceeded the snickers; a Los Angeles spokesperson for the Fellowship, which publishes the Autobiography, says “countless millions of copies” of it have been sold worldwide. As the ’40s drew to a close, Yogananda’s life more and more resembled that of a besieged titan of industry, according to profiles that appeared around that time. He was overseeing 82 centers and churches stretching all the way to the Gold Coast of Africa, San Diego Magazine reported in 1951. “He directs such diverse activities as a goat farm in Arizona, a desert retreat for monks and nuns of the Order overlooking Palm Springs, papaya groves and a restaurant in Encinitas….” (This “cleansitarian” eating place was located out on Highway 101, next to the central lotus tower. Raw vegetable juices and “mushroomburgers” were the specialties.) Continued the San Diego Magazine writer, “On [Yogananda’sj busy days he puts in 16 to 18 hours at his desk, takes a three- or four-hour rest and comes back for more. An avalanche of mail greets The Master every morning. These consist mostly of requests for his photo (now available in three poses — the long-time favorite, seated with folded hands, and his latest photograph, seated). Others want ‘The Voice’ singing his Hindu Chant on non-breakable, vinylite record. Still others write him for his correspondence course and writings.” Besides having produced the Autobiography, Yogananda also composed poetry, songs, and chants. “Weekly, he turns radio writer and produces the script for The Voice of Self-Realization. And each morning between 7:00 and 11:00 a.m., as he claims to be a human sending station, he emits, to the students and those seeking help, his personal healing vibrations.”
In the midst of this frenzied schedule, Yogananda had a revelation that his life was drawing to a close, says Mitrananda, and after 1948 the religious leader began spending more and more time in the Mojave Desert, writing. One of the most detailed accounts of his final days appeared in Time magazine, a few months after his death. “For the last two years the guru suffered from a ‘metaphysically induced illness,’ as his disciples put it — the result of ‘working out’ on his own body some of the physical and spiritual burdens of his friends.” Time continued that as 1952 had arrived, the swami had grown silent. “He finished dictating his spiritual books. His last ‘little desire’ was fulfilled, he said, when a disciple from Florida sent him some green coconut juice in March.”
Omar Garrison says Yogananda called him one day at the beginning of March 1952, to disclose that the ambassador of India was coming for a luncheon. “I said, ‘Well, Paramahansaji, I have an assignment. I can’t come at that time.’ He said, ‘Cancel it. Do anything, but you must come.’ And there was something about the way he said it; I immediately caught it in his voice…. So I went. And the moment I saw him, he told me, ‘I wanted to say good-bye to you.’ I was confused; was he returning to India? I didn’t realize what he meant until a few days later [March 7] — the night of the banquet for the ambassador at the Biltmore Hotel.”
According to Time, Yogananda ate vegetables and strawberry parfait at the banquet, then rose to make a speech about “spiritual India,” ending the presentation by quoting from one of his own poems. “As he finished, Paramhansa [sic] lifted his eyes, turned slightly to the right, and slid to the floor, dead.” The subsequent medical verdict blamed a heart attack.
He was 59—young for a profession in which (by Yogananda’s own account) some yogis manage to avoid death for centuries. “He’d finished his mission,” declared Brother Mitrananda when I questioned Yogananda’s demise. “He did what he was supposed to do.”
When I had asked to talk to someone about the current residents of the Encinitas ashram, I was referred to Mitrananda. Although he was only a few years old at the time of Yogananda’s death, and although he probably wasn’t many miles away, he started out in a very different world from that of the Indian mystic. “I was born in Glendale but raised in La Crescenta. I have really great folks; came from Kentucky. They were childhood sweethearts,” said the monk, who resembles the actor John Malkovich. The family was Methodist. “I was into my church,” says Mitrananda. “I stood in tableaus on the lawn at Christmas, and I sang in the choir and all that.”
One element in his life did distinguish him from the typical suburban schoolboy. Around the age of 12, he got a professional acting job, and he says throughout his teens he worked in “hundreds of movies and television programs and commercials.” He adds, “Working in the film studios was kind of a revelation. I was never starstruck. In fact, I saw how neurotic, how insecure, most of the artists and actors were.” After high school, he nonetheless enrolled in the University of Southern California to study journalism and film production. As he neared graduation, “I was sort of aimless.” he recalls. “I’d been through a lot of confusion and didn’t really know what I wanted.” He says at times he would make the trip to Forest Lawn Cemetery, near his family’s home in Glendale, and attend the funerals of complete strangers. “I used to go with college friends. We would just walk up and see this strange guy lying in a box. And it was like, ‘Hey, you too, my friend.’ You know, when most people are young they think they’re never going to die. But I would drive along and see a wreck on the freeway, and I just couldn’t dismiss it from my mind. I’d think, ‘No, it is going to happen to me. It’s just a matter of time. It’s either going to be that or cancer or having a child who’s crippled, or something.’ This was haunting me…this duality of life.”
Mitrananda continues, “I wanted a goal-oriented life— And I was scared because I saw that all my peers, the young college students, they all seemed sort of like cattle getting on this train to some unknown destination, getting into these careers. These executives from these big companies came around to interview the top third of the senior class, and when I was being interviewed, I thought, ‘If I do this, I’m going to wind up just like you.’ And I somehow’ wanted something different.”
At the end of his senior year, a college friend gave him a copy of The Autobiography of a Yogi. After reading it, “I went up to the Hollywood church to see what was going on. I had the sense that this was what I’d always wanted.” The Fellowship at the time had a restaurant on Sunset Boulevard, and Mitrananda got a job there. “I thought, ‘Well, I’ll work here for the summer just to get the exposure [to the Fellowship). Then I’ll get a real job in the fall.’ ” Many of his fellow workers were aspiring monks, and Mitrananda says, “I couldn’t understand what they wanted to be monks for. It seemed like sort of a bizarre thing in my mind.” He says his thinking changed in a single memorable moment.
“We had one day off a week, and frequently we [lay restaurant workers] would join the monks for three-hour meditations.” He was deep in concentration on one such occasion when a voice filled the young man’s consciousness. “It wasn’t a physical voice, but it was so clear that it was as if the words were chiseled in the base of a Roman statue. They were: ‘Just this once, don’t do what you want to do, do what you know you should do.’ And I thought, ‘Well, that’s it. I don’t want to do this, but it will be good for me. It’s like going in the military.’ ” Only forever. Although he “didn’t really know what it meant to be a monk,” he says at the time he viewed the decision as a lifetime commitment.
What had he turned his back on? “I would have been an executive with IBM and made videos for them,” he shoots back the answer. “I would have had a green Jaguar and lived in Brentwood and everything.” It is easy to imagine this. Shadows of some other, corporate identity cling to the lean, balding clergyman. Although nuns in the Self-Realization Fellowship dress in saris, the monks forgo robes and instead wear trousers and short tunics reminiscent of the old Nehru jackets. Mitrananda’s are ochre, the rusty orange shade donned by those who’ve taken final monastic vows. His words are crisp and businesslike; his demeanor cordial and very polished. “We’re very busy people,” he said of the religious community. “For us meditation isn’t a luxury, but a necessity. Because if we don’t meditate regularly, we really feel the pressures — just the phone ringing and we deal with computers. We have to feed the cats and the dogs. We have to process the monthly bills. We do everything a householder does, pretty much. Also I go on international lecture tours…. I was in Rome last November, and there were a thousand people who’d come for a weekend class.”
About 45 men and women now live full-time at the Encinitas ashram. “We have hundreds of thousands of members, but only about 250 monks and nuns,” Mitrananda says. “It’s a very small percentage.” The seaside group includes a dozen nuns and 20 or so monks, who live and eat in separate quarters. “Yogananda believed in the strict segregation of the sexes. So we keep talk to a minimum, strictly about business. There’s no social or personal exchanges.”
Postulants make up the third group within the community. While women seeking nunhood go to Los Angeles, all young men aspiring to be Fellowship monks come here. “Right now we have one from England, one from Australia, one from Italy, one from Spain, three from Brazil, and the rest are Americans,” Mitrananda enumerated. All take vows of loyalty, obedience, chastity, and simplicity (rather than poverty, “Yogananda said of poverty, ‘No, that’s a little negative,’ ” one nun explained). During their one-to two-year probation, the postulants are cloistered.
All three groups within the community follow the same fixed schedule, starting each day at 5:30 and fitting in three separate meditation sessions (two hours total). Group recreational and “energization” exercises consume other time slots, and the remaining daytime hours are devoted to various tasks: postulants, for example, study and do gardening work (besides the Meditation Garden, the Fellowship also raises fruits and vegetables on some land located just across the railroad tracks). The full-fledged monastics work on various tasks, such as running the ongoing retreat programs, which each year bring thousands of people from all over the world to the Encinitas compound.
Retreatants — most, though not all of whom are Fellowship members — stay for anywhere from 1 to 14 days. All “do certain physical exercises twice a day, to control the energy,” says Mitrananda. “We teach them techniques of concentration and meditation.” They attend some lectures, and they also are asked to keep silence, an experience that itself is “a tremendous education,” the monk avers. “Many people have never not spoken for two days. But a lot of things come to you from within just with the slowing-down process. That’s what we believe — the definition of self-realization is that we already have the knowledge. It’s inside. But we can’t access it…because of our restlessness and because of all the energy that’s going out. Every night when we sleep, the life force withdraws, but it’s not conscious. Whereas meditation is really a sort of a conscious sleep. You get a chance to shut things down, the heartbeat slows down, the breath slows down, thoughts slow down, and then up underneath that comes this first manifestation of God — peace. The Bible says, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Well, that stillness is a science…and to be able to create it consciously, at will, is what we teach.”
“Yogananda was not here to teach Hinduism as such,” Mitrananda told me on another occasion. “I mean, he wasn’t preaching incense and sitting cross-legged and that.” Indeed, the theme of religious universality pervades the Fellowship. At temple services, for Instance, worshipers pray to Jesus, Krishna, various Indian yogis, and “saints and sages of all religions,” and they make their requests in spare, Anglicized buildings in which the walls are white, the pews simple and wooden. These churches bear about as much resemblance to the perfumed and glittering and oh-so-Indian Hare Krishna temples as the average fundamentalist chapel bears to St. Peter’s in Rome. The notions at the heart of Yogananda’s teachings are Hindu ones: Godhead within, yogic practice as a means of getting in touch with it throughout innumerable reincarnations. But even here the Fellowship members can advance to something that, though it supposedly wasn’t invented in the West, seems as if it should have been. Once initiated into the practice of “Kriya yoga,” Yogananda taught that Fellowship members can dramatically compress the spiritual evolutionary process. “One half-minute…of Kriya equals one year of natural spiritual unfoldment,” he explained in the Autobiography. According to this peculiar equation, the Kriya-practicing yogi in just one day could dispense with “the equivalent of one thousand years of natural evolution…. In three years, a Kriya Yogi can thus accomplish by intelligent self-effort the same result that Nature brings to pass in a million years.”
I asked Mitrananda if the complex Kriya calculus made sense to him the first time he read the Autobiography.
“I didn’t have a clue,” he replied. “How could you know? What could you have read that would have given you a perspective on something like that? No, it’s totally fresh. And I didn’t know what to make of the miracles in the Autobiography. I was very skeptical. And yet there was something…. I thought, ‘This man’s not lying. It’s not a fantasy. There’s some truth here.’ ”
The monk says since then he’s given a lot of thought to the panoply of marvels presented by Yogananda in his bestseller and he’s come up with this explanation. “It says on the title page of the Autobiography, ‘Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. — John 4:48.’ And in our lessons we learn that Jesus said that with wry humor. Which means to me: ‘I don’t like to have to tell you all these miracles. Because it’s not the key point. But I have to tell you them to get you excited; to motivate you initially. You won’t believe otherwise.’ But as you get into this science and test it for yourself, you will at last believe the ultimate so-called miracle — that you are God. That’s self-realization. God-realization. This is the goal.”
Mitrananda says he’s now certain that all the astounding events did occur as Yogananda, pacing back and forth in his chambers on the bluff, described them. But Mitrananda echoes the words of the guru himself in declaring that such events aren’t really “supernatural.” “They’re natural things that you or I could do if we had the same control of our minds. And slowly, as we evolve, science will come to comprehend these laws and the miracles will get crossed off the list, and we’ll all realize this incredible, even infinite, power of the mind of man.”
What about within the ashram — where some of the monastics have been practicing Yogananda’s potent “science” for decades. Do the veteran monks and nuns experience things that the rest of us would call miraculous?
“I couldn’t generalize,” the monk replied, after a long pause. “I couldn’t talk about other people, but I would say that these kind of so-called miracles — or let’s call them phenomenal experiences — are not a part of our daily experience.”
So maybe the Encinitas compound doesn’t merit a whole chapter in that supernatural guidebook after all. Maybe To’chula’s strange lunchtime vision only deserves a footnote. Then again, the Encinitas property does encompass the Meditation Garden, where it’s not very difficult to catch glimpses of something transcendental and where ghosts of the miraculous still linger.
You enter the garden not far from the street. A stone stairway leads upward off the central driveway, and within steps you’re in a bosky wonderland. Many of the trees here were planted 50 years ago, and all their hidden layers give them the thickness and dignity and character of elders, brought together in some multinational convocation. Hollywood junipers lean over the stone pathways like dark giants, their many arms frozen into dozens of gestures as they gossip with magnolias, sago palms, rubber trees, Aleppo pines. At their feet rise tree ferns from Australia and Hawaii that have grown to the height of men. The walkways lead to ponds where papyrus knifes up through crystalline water and where gaudy Japanese carp glide beneath lilies such as those Monet painted. Despite the profusion of the plant life, there’s an underlying order discernible; this is no vegetative riot, but a creation wrought with patience and discipline and discrimination. The droplets of glowing sunlight that penetrate the foliage may splatter at random, but they shower flowers positioned with subtlety and restraint. Hot red kalanchoe grows next to a tender green groundcover, the spiky alien blooms of pink bromeliads jut up near the normality of philodendrons. Coleus has been hung in planters suspended at eye level, the better to show off the astounding leafy palette: white and fuchsia and orange and dried blood, all bordered with the most delicate lime green.
Throughout the garden wafts the smell of the sea, but only glimpses of it are visible until you emerge into an area paved with irregular flesh-colored slabs. This space feels like a plaza with one side open to the oceanic infinity. Three low gray steps rise to the cliff edge and then break off in a jagged edge that runs into a bed of blooming red and gold lantana. Once, however, Yogananda’s temple floated just beyond the stairs. For those who entered it and climbed to the roof, it must have seemed as if the dreary, tugging forces of gravity had ceased to exist.

Books by Garrison, Omar V, American author and journalist of the 20th century…..who knew Yogananda
“Those who believe on me shall do greater things, for i go to the Father.” Said Jesus. [look it up in John’s Gospel]
This is what Paramahansa Yogananda accomplished, it was not a matter of who is greater, but a matter of timing and circumstance! In Yogananda’s revelation, we had a great difference in the setting, and technologies that allowed for a more accurate record that has been so well and correctly preserved for the third millennium.
Yogananda’s successors were very advanced spiritually and fully understood the message for humanity for the future! The situation for Jeshua was far different, most of His devotees were poorly educated and still heavily indoctrinated in the primitive expressions of the Abrahamic traditions.
As an intro reference – the same teachings that Jesus brought after several years in India etc were taught in flawless detail by Lord Krishna of India via the Bhagavad Gita to His great devotee Arjuna 6,000 years earlier . Originally put into writing long before Jesus time by the sage Vyasa. whose time was about 500 bc.
And Yes! These great ones can time travel in past and future, Yogananda is proof of prophecy…. Yes , you heard that right – exactly the same teachings, but in greater scientific detail 6,000yrs earlier !
You will never verify this truth with a quick read [another dark habit you have to overcome!] You aren’t that smart! especially if you are a U graduate! Why did Steve Jobs tell his dad, “There is nothing here [Stanford] worth paying for, please don’t send any more money!” That is why Yogananda dumped His U degree shortly after arriving in the USA. It will take you years of meditation, lifestyle changes and deep study of these great scriptures, and of real history, plus a major resetting of your earlier Western indoctrinations as well! We have been told so many lies, for so many years, before you attempt to repaint your boat -a lot of cleaning and repairs will be necessary.
Paramahansa Yogananda, a most recent Avatar for the modern world, gives us a Flood of evidence that:
The Sanatana Dharma is the only real Democracy of the spiritual world, There never was just “Gods only son!” There never was “only One Way…..! India’s wisdom never did come from the West! the Earth is Billions of years old, get used to it boys ! Reincarnation is the was real story of life, death, and Salvation! The leaders of Churchianity and other Abrahamic religions are still having problems with interpretation and historical accuracy of their own scriptures.. It is time to break through the old brittle molds of darkness and missionary Madness, as you own teacher says, “First remove the log from you own eyes before you keep attempting to remove the speck from your brothers eye.” The heart of all great teachings is to change yourself first, only then will you have some idea to change others…………………..

Read the orange covered edition of “Autobiography of a Yogi “, Self-Realization Fellowship publishers, LA USA. Most recent editions are more up to date than the original 1946 edition. That is why the master made some interesting changes each with each new edition. But his principles of wisdom needed no corrections. Changes to later editions were done as per His written and verbal instructions before He passed on in 1952. Be sure to visit “yogananda.org” for more info on this great path, and the Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS updated Lessons course on Kriya Yoga meditation, and on how to live a productive and happy life. There are many genuine reports of how Yogananda has worked with many sincere devotees even after He left the body.
I experienced the phenomena personally. One of these interesting stories is is the story of how Yoganandaji introduced Himself to me posthumously 6 years after His Mahasamadhi. That was in 1958. A story partly covered in another essay on this same site. However [if still available] there is another beautiful life story of a devotee whose life was clearly assisted by master before and after his Mahasamadhi. His name was Mr Larry Reavis now deceased; Please see his videos on You Tubr as follows; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCDQFgPuDlc , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqZlEBdt3Zc and other videos not listed here…… etc etc etc ………../////////////////// for these stories and videos goes to Larry Reavis and family who made a great contribution to Masters great work in this world. and who are maintaining these sites above. Shri Shri Paramahansa Yogananda…of India, Who shared with the Americas, and the World – Born in 1893 – 1952 Early 20th century major world Prophet. Preparing Humanity for the 3rd millennium, the restored teachings of Jesus and Lord Krishna {known as the Sanatana Dharma} “the Eternal Religion, which is often misnamed as “Hinduism.” I witnessed many of Yogananda’s miracles in my own life, and the lives of others! In our London meditation circle there have been some healings of bodies, minds, and souls. This is why there continues to grow and ever increasing interest in the great wisdom and life of Paramahansa Yogananda’s life and works and Kriya Yoga in particular. He is a fordmaker leading the world of true spiritual seekers from dogma to real consciousness transformation, From the narrow exclusiveness of primitive religion to the expanding light of Pluralism!
One can go back now into the worlds great recorded history and see the attraction of India [the democracy of religions] to so many , many true seekers of Brahman [the Lord of lords] known by so many names in so many lands. India has sustained these truths for all seekers through more than 20 millennia until Paramahansa Yogananda and a few others brought it to the West, and then the rest of the modern world. Yogananda is freeing the world from the darkness of dogmatism and exclusivity; Self-Realization fellowship/Yogoda Sat Sangha is upgrading and unifying world spirituality for the 3rd millennium ! Yogananda showed the world how to balance the progress of technology with the Spiritual Science of Kriya Yoga. It should be added to all education curriculums. These are the same teachings that Jesus brought to Judea after wandering for 18 years in the East, and for which he was murdered!
This would go a long way to reversing todays epidemic of mental and other social problems of modern times.
Yogananda not only left us a voluminous corpus of wisdom holy writ, but even more than that, He was the most recent example the living Christ in todays world, who walked the streets of America and the world for about 30 years, fully demonstrating the eternal truths of Sanatana Dharma of Holy Bhagavad Gita, as Lord Krishna spoke to us so many ages ago in Holy India.
Yogananda is one of the great 20th century many proofs of the truth of Reincarnation and the efficacy of Kriya Yoga. And of the Gospels. If you are unaware of all that evidence, don’t knock it ! You might still be a dinosaur. There is more new data on all this every year, looking for truth is one of life’s most rewarding adventures. As JC is recorded of saying, “We know what we worship.” It is unfortunate that the last two millennium has witnessed so much violence in the name of primitive, exclusive, politicized, power hungry religious movements and sects. It may take all kinds, but something is clearly failing here, stop trying to convert the whole world to your own darkness. Your violence in the name of some imaginary God is clearly failing to bring peace to this world. Just as a wise Yogi in India said recently, “by revising a few pages of your book and your future generations will not seek the solutions of violence any longer.” Doing the same thing that never brings peace is not working! If you want to become a great example of Godlike behavior, you must change yourselves soon. Haven’t you have enough of pain, death and destruction of all that you build?> There is a better way, and it is not your way, or by now there would be more peace in this world. Look in the mirror of your heart! ///////////////////////////more to follow………………… fp

*See comments by Shri shri David Frawley [indologist who debunked the false AiT]. See preface to “The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita by Paramahansa Yogananda, SRF Pub.
“Truth is one… Divine incarnations do not come to bring a new or exclusive religion, but to restore the One Religion of God-realization, (such as the Sanatana Dharma.) The great ones, like waves, all bathe in the same Eternal Sea… ” thus said Parmahansa Yogananda, Avatar for the 3rd millennium. This is the one of whom Jesus spoke, “those who believe on me will do the things that i am doing, and they will do even greater things , because I go to the Father.”
When you actually read/study the Master’s “Autobiography of a Yogi”, then you will truly know the one of whom the prophets spoke!
Notes/Commentary ; Not everyone who claims to have a “message from some God ” is a “Divine Incarnation.” Sadly – so many persons are scammed by these false proclamations and prophecies. They are very often “Politicians in Prophets clothing.” Few can easily/clearly tell the difference.
What makes their message so alluring is their appeal to your vain dreams of a pleasurable eternal life. To clarify , Politicians mostly are seekers of power, they often abhor spiritual principles of truthfulness, transparency, humility, interior contemplation of Yoga. They abhor being caught in their own embarrassments and lies. Often making false claims, vain promises, and whatever it takes to attain their goals of wealth, fame, and power! Beware of great “influencers!” Telling you of the all the great rewards and glory of following them into a world they cannot show you. “Talk is cheap!” Many are the ambitions of sweet tonged persons who concoct amazing tales to appear as authentic “messengers of some “God” . “You will know them by their fruits!”
Although this method of discernment appears simple enough for the intellect, it is the emotional blindness that entraps such great numbers [like in Mega churches] in “the madness of crowds.” So again I say, “devotees/seekers beware of those who while proclaiming to be “messengers of God” may often be a politicians in prophets clothing.”
Attracting a great following is not always a sign of a “great one.” or a “true world prophet.” Learn the difference between “education” and “indoctrination.” The test is very simple, if you are now emotionally being misled by vain claims and crowd influencers, step back and ask the right questions. Remember, when one of these Great Ones warned us about not harming children. The best way to harm a child is raising them in the teachings that came from “the blind leading the blind.” while “indoctrinating instead of educating. ” Misery loves company!”
“Wide is the gate and wide is the way that leads to destruction, and most people with go that way; narrow is the way and narrow the gate that leads to life, and very few will find it” said JC. What did Douglas Murray write about “the madness of crowds”? Do not imagine that if you are a member of a smaller church/group you must be “one of those few,” who have found the right way to salvation.” This is more than a numbers game. These are the Fax….There never was only one way! There never was only one Savior! There never was only one holy book! There never was only one lifetime for each of us! “The Kingdom of God” is not out there somewhere, in time or space. It is “here and now, right within you!” All those old concepts are primitive religion, what Jesus and Yogananda came to change….! Yes ! compared to the Sanatana Dharma, the Abrahamic popular ideas are primitive as long as you are “one of the many.”
The truth of this matter is that if you go into most places of worship, you would be lucky to find 5% who really deeply understand care what it’s actually all about. Very few persons seem to be able to care enough to rise above their earlier indoctrinations and ego consciousness. It all comes down to where you and your local culture are on the scale of your human evolution….and if you have no fear of being isolated from the flock! If you prefer to remain blind, life is pointless and comfortable and boring! Change is everything!
How blessed and cursed we are to be living in this amazing information age! Look up anything that has happened/spoken in the last few thousand years and you can instantaneously find data on it.
Of course, the responsibility of separating truth from fiction is still yours in the end! Here is where reason and intuition are so important.
Now all we need to do is make the effort to ask the questions and do the work of changing our consciousness through the life changing exercise of Kriya Yoga Meditation. This is what gives power to your prayers! Think of the structure of a vector. Direction is the essence of your prayer, Power is the force of realization! Are you “One of the “Few ‘, “or One of the “Many?”
“They shall come from all parts of the world, thousands and thousands of them, just as you have, for Self-Realization (Fellowship) is bringing the original Christianity of Christ and the original Yoga of India’s Krishna so that all people of all religions can follow one highwayto the Infinite.” thus saith………….... Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.
This is one of Paramahansa Yogananda’s many prophecies that has already happening before the eyes of the world!
Even though our many sons of God throughout history are equal in stature, the environment into which they taught made great differences on how their life and messages remained effective and reliable! The true ones never die and are all of one consciousness. The misunderstood idea of “Progressive Revelation “seldom applies to the world of the past. Since and example of the Lord Krishna’s “Bhagavad Gita” circa 6 thousand bce was far more advance than the Old Testament proclamations which followed millenniums later debunks that term of progressive! .
Above Comment was made by PY at Self-Realization Fellowship annual convocation, c 1951, LA USA .///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A Major part of Paramahansa Yogananda’s world mission/dispensation was to clearly demonstrate/encourage/clarify the basic unity and harmony of the primary elements and purposes of all true world religions. Especially from the Gita and the New Testament! He later revised His mandate to write an esoteric commentary for Islam using the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. More on this later.
This is the nature of pluralism – the main concept that alone brings peace and cooperation and democracy among all the worlds religious communities! It’s opposite is “exclusivism” the dogmatic religious approach which has been the main cause of stress, intolerance, misunderstanding and the cause of violence between religions and cultures world wide. The attitude and desire to make everyone in the world think like yourself is to enforce your ignorance upon the world, the door to psychopathic behavior. Until you first realize the Self, which is the knowing of God and/or the holy spirit (om), you are not ready for any kind of “missionary work.” Open minded wisdom guided sharing of ones ideas is never properly done by coercion, or deceit, narcissistic egotism or force. Those who still practice this do not even follow the wisdom of their own scriptures. Academia never produces God Knowing saints.
These conflicts are mainly caused when original teachings collect literary errors through time, including natural evolutionary language changes, and especially the political manipulation of religious works by those in power, or by a false prophets pretending to have received their comments from some God. Or those who are self deceived.
One should examine all claims closely as there are many charlatans in the world of religion. Especially test and examine those teachings that you were raised in! Remember – in most cultures you have been programmed to believe the ideas of unrealized parents and teachers. Who with good intent had little awareness of the true meaning of their professed faiths. Many followers are unaware that there is a difference between religious beliefs and political beliefs. Only a true fully realized divine teacher can free you from the Cognitive Dissonance and darkness that holds you back. Do you wish to be “one of the Many- or one of the Few?”
This can be better understood with searching our history and your heart. Are today’s common beliefs followed by your faith what those prophets really intended or taught? Academia is seldom the best place to learn about comparative religion and true philosophy. Better to do your own personal searching and the truth of all this will become clearer as you go beyond your earlier programming. As a seeker of truth you owe that much to your personal integrity. We all have the same challenge in this world of Maya, from birth we were mostly misled led by the spiritually blind in every religion.
This was the story of my own sadhana, when I was ready Yoganandaji personally and posthumously introduced Himself to me, and the rest is history. Then I knew that it was he who had been personally been guiding my training and life opportunities, He is with me always. Many positive results and lessons continually came since that amazing day of divine grace. The blessings of knowing your true Guru/savoir are many!
It was mainly India’s Sanatana Dharma and the far east mystics that has kept the truly ecumenical principal of global pluralism, tolerance, and the spiritual science of Kriya Yoga alive through countless millenniums. Such is the light giving blessing of India’s “Sanatana Dharma.” This is what it takes to produce a Gandhi or a Paramahansa Yogananda.
Yoganandaji’s particular emphasis above re the historical words of Jesus and Krishna are for specific reasons as follows. The Master’s original mandate was to show the harmony between Original Christianity and Original Yoga . This however evolved into showing the plurality in all the worlds true major spiritual scriptures. It is not unusual for a great Prophet to adjust the nature of His mandate part way through His world mission. Yogananda, like Jesus, changed or upgraded several of His main emphasis for the immediate and long term goals.
In today’s world of global communications, mobility, and sciences, those documents provide the clearest elements referencing the highest Yoga spiritual sciences. Which Yogananda has made transparent and available for the “man in the street.” Which He has fully demonstrated in His extraordinary life. The value of any claims by any authority/prophet lies in all the results and examples of that life and statements. That becomes a living proof! If you don’t know why you believe something, you are in a state of blind belief situation going nowhere. What does the record say?
This move away from the narrowness of dogma, academia, and the secrecy of ancient monastic traditions will restore real spirituality in the hearts of many true seekers of reality world wide. It will spark a healing revolution in the hearts of a humanity that is now experiencing an emptiness and psycho derangement from the pace and direction of today’s world.
Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings via Self-Realization Fellowship are leading the way! Our first duty is to change ourselves! Then, and only then do we have some valid qualification to share our wisdom with others who may be open to receive true light.
Monuments to the World’s Major Religions, SRF Court of All Religions, SRF Lake Shrine [[This interesting and significant display located at SRF Lake Shrine, was created by Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS circa 1940 ?]]
Since the erection of these noble monuments a hoard of new knowledge about world religious history has been discovered, not all of which is very flattering. And although this newer and more reliable earth shaking history may appear to change the “true story” about what has been going on in the historical records of many religious traditions, There are still the lives of so many billions of persons [“the many”] who must find their own way to reconcile their past with their future hopes. ”Can you handle the Truth.”
Although every parent attempts to teach their little one the best that they knew at the time, few parents knew the better way or “the few.” Now that you have been programmed by society [“the blind leading the blind”], the great challenge is in your own hands! Don’t play the victim card, instead seek the truth in all matters and overcome your past dark programing from “the way of the many.”
Although Paramahansa Yogananda knew about these future [after 1952] developments, He was able, even back before 1952 to compensate for what the future has finally revealed to the world about the true situations of some of the worlds major faith claims.
So as it was also with Jesus, Paramahansaji changed part of His divine mandate to accommodate these new discoveries half a century before they were made clear by the 3rd millennium. Yes, Jesus did make a major change to His mandate to accommodate situational changes to His divine mission in dealing with the “lost sheep of Israel.”
Those who found Him politically in contrast to the popular leadership narrative did not have a pleasant ending. So, like Socrates, He was falsely accused and executed. First, the evil ones shut you Up , then they shut you Down! ///////////////////more to follow………………….Fp
also from- Aims and ideals of Self-Realization Fellowship –
“To reveal the complete harmony and basic oneness of original Christianity as taught by JESUS CHRIST and original Yoga as taught by BHAGAVAN KRISHNA; and to show that these principles of truth are the common scientific foundation of all true religions.” Paramahansa Yogananda
“To point out the one divine highway to which all paths of true religious beliefs eventually lead: the highway of daily, scientific, devotional meditation on God.”
John 4:21, “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Yogananda concludes with this far reaching statement;
Paramahansa Yogananda said;
“We in Self-Realization Fellowship have not come to bring a new religion, or a new cult or new interpretation. We have come to teach practical methods, the exact technique of widening the channel of human consciousness, so that truth may flow in ceaselessly, endlessly, without obstructions of dogma or unproved beliefs. We seek to point out the path of concentration on a practical system of realization as well as words and personality of saints and prophets. We teach step by step progress to individual personal realization and attainment of divinity.”
Yogananda’s writing and publishing of His third major spiritual commentary “Wine of the Mystic”[published in 1994 under copy write by Self-Realization Publishers LA USA] requires further discussion to clarify His change of His approach to this project.
This inspiring work is a major change of mandate by the world prophet Paramahansa Yogananda. His original plan was to write commentaries only on the Holy Bhagavad Gita and the Christian Bible. Showing the great unity of teaching to unite east and west. Two similar revelations that came via two true sons of God to two very different cultures about 5k+ years apart. One that was locally rejected and one that was greatly accepted, the circumstances differed at the time but the message was equally similar containing the higher age teachings of the science of Yoga and freedom from dogmatism, exclusivism, and blind belief. We can only guess why He would also write a commentary for the Muslim world, presently representing over a billion devout followers. It was Yoganandajis great compassion not to ignore such a large portion of Humanity whom He knew would soon be ready to move on.
The main question that rears its head here is; Why did Yogananda not use the sacred texts of Islam to write His commentary for those believers? As He did for the followers of Jesus and Krishna. So, many years later we now have some answers to this irregularity . The answers to this have become clear from global research and precise investigations, especially discoveries in the middle eastern regions.
Yogananda had this present day knowledge over 80 years ago, and thus chose the spiritually advanced works of Omarr Khayyam known as “The Rubaiyat” to write his illustrious commentary for the Muslim world. Published under the title of “Wine of the Mystic”, c SRF publishers LA USA.
Yes, I have deeply studied most matters pertaining to this subject!……… If you wish to know what Master knew back then…………..do the research!
Never before in human history has there been left to mankind such a greatly detailed complete and verifiable record of the life and works of a prophet of this stature – an ever living Paramahansa. Although his message initially came in the worlds most widely spoken language [English], His most acclaimed and read work -Autobiography of a Yogi -can now be read by over 90% of the worlds inhabitants in their own language.
This modern day Paramahansa is truly a living prophet who is changing the lives of millions of seeking devotees.
In this auspicious year -2025, we gratefully celebrate the 132nd year of Paramahansa Yogananda’s divine birth.
This yoga master, known as “the Father of Yoga in the West” is one of the greatest of 20th century educators and the founder of the Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Sat Sangha, a world wide New Religious Movement. Which operates many charitable dispensaries and schools world wide. Yogananda was without doubt the world’s most significant spiritual prophet/luminary of the 20th and 21st centuries to date. Leaving behind an impeccable spiritual life and literary legacy that is revolutionizing the spiritual life, outlook, and consciousness of millions of seekers in today’s world. Although this reinventing of the truly scientific spiritual approach is most widespread in Hindustan and the Caucasian worlds, and various Dharmic faiths, many other cultures and faiths are slowly discovering the uplifting transformational message and living presence of this world teacher/prophet.
Acclaimed by both those who intimately follow Him as their Guru/Avatar/Savior/mentor, and those who have just become aware of His inspiring life and Legacy for all mankind.
He was a modern outstanding real life example of the truth of much of the worlds greater spiritual literature as were originally intended. As for the popular beliefs of the masses, he approached those many misunderstandings with compassion and profoundly clear and simple clarifications that appeal to common sense.
As a living demonstration of the divine love, light, peace, wisdom, and joy that we read about in sacred writings (eg the Holy Bible and the Holy Bhagavad Gita.) His strongest witness as a modern living prophet is in that divine life record he left us. Yogananda’s real life drama has transformed the myth of ancient scripture into the clarity of scientific expression. There’s no more denying then! Academic in harmonies just fade away for those who know how to read and are willing to test His life saving teachings.
It takes considerable research, time, and faithful practice to
to fully appreciate and understand the extensive practical blessings that this humble Master bequeathed to the world during His short life of 59 yrs. I suggest starting with His “Autobiography of a Yogi” and other works that are still in publication by Self-Realization Publishers LA USA. There are also various videos and doc films available on the net (see image sidebar) and search on YouTube under Self-Realization Fellowship -or Paramahansa Yogananda, or Self-Realization Fellowship/ Yogoda Sat Sangha in India.
Only Yogananda’s books from this publisher (SRF) are most reliable, accurate, and up to date. The work of SRF Publishers do accurately reflect the Masters true legacy. As a simple test of the importance of Yogananda’s work I would suggest that one could compare it to the life and revelation of the gospels of Jesus. Excepting the fact that because this Guru’s life and work all took place within the last century or so, with many witnesses of both devotees and non devotees this remarkable example of the advanced yogic spiritual life for all religions is very reliable and noteworthy. His unity with the infinite was clear.
During His sojourn and ministry in the last century He was able to answer and put to rest most of the problems of modern popular religionists who have long since given up on institutional religion. The now commonly used term of “Spirituality” was given much strength and credibility with the advent of Yogananda’s work and life! He is a true leader and peaceful revolutionary in religion, spirituality, mind awareness, meditation, psychology, social engineering, education, healing, health and balanced living etc.
He also published all of his writings in English [now the worlds most commonly spoken language.] A language that He had mastered as if it were His mother tongue.
This unique situation will, in future years remove much of the problem that followed so many revelations of all faiths that suffer from political, language, and ancient messed up historical confusions. Political misdirections and linguistic translations during the evolution of languages in all
cultures being some of the most problematic sources of misunderstanding. All this aside, one needs to experience the living presence of His intimate omnipresence to truly know what He is doing for humanity in education, spirituality, charity, and the well-being of society. What was so unique or outstanding about the life, Legacy, and SRF/YSS society established by Paramahansa Yogananda?
Instead of deliberately starting a new “religion,” He clarified for humanity the scientific essence Kriya Yoga that will harmonize all true historical paths together at a lofty effective spiritual level. This is the only true “unity in diversity” as it does not require others to deny or leave their family’s faiths. It does not falsely tell others they must change. Other prophets followers have used that lofty slogan of “Unity in Diversity,” but upon closer scrutiny their claims do not hold true.
Those others really want you to deny the validity all other faiths and unite under their own new banner. Persons joining those new movements are not usually initially told about their way of eradication/demeaning previous faiths. They often don’t even fully understand the flaws of their own dark history. Those who do this don’t properly understand such terms as “unity in diversity” and “Progressive Revelation.”
Where then does the new society known as “Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Sat Sangha” truly stand in all of this? My take on it below! Yogananda set this org up not with the intent of creating a new religion, but as a reliable and leading spiritual center for the preservation and dissemination of the Kriya Yoga revelation which He was introducing to the modern and post modern world. To be a promoter of religious harmony and peace among all faiths, not by conversion but by emphasizing the principle unifying goals of all faiths. Some special qualities made Him the ideal interface with humanity for this great mandate. His ability as a articulate natural teacher and His ultra high mastery of His consciousness at all significant levels.
Being fully unified with the Infinite Consciousness (Reality), and awakened from the mayic dream of Relativity, He was fully qualified to lead others on life’s most challenging and rewarding quest – that of Self-Realization.
Those who have become a serious part of this new teaching and lifestyle could be said in modern terminology to be members of a new church. Yogananda has now many millions of devotees and helpers. God bless them all! Continue to live/grow in “Mind-Awareness.”
This Master says very clearly that if you add the science of Kriya Yoga and a few principles of love and peace to your present religious/spiritual practice, you do not have to reject/ deny the religions of your families and cultures. But you will have to learn what is true and false about what you have been taught by those blind leaders of so many varied sects, and you have to practice the raising of your consciousness with higher yoga science of life transforming meditation that the prophet Yogananda gives us.
Yogananda came to the West at a time when modern technology was distracting most men from two things. The higher teaching of Yoga- the mystical enhance- ment of consciousness, and the reality within. The more attention we give only to the outward physical sciences at the neglect of the inner spiritual sciences will simply further enslave our consciousness to the world of relativity and the senses! Are the machines taking over yet – it is getting closer all the time!
He left us a vast comprehensive life example and library of clear instruction and inspiration plus his ever living omnipresence. He is not dead, He lives and works through and with His true devotees. History proclaims it! I also recommend seeing the documentary “Awake; The Life of Yogananda” a remarkable biopic film released in 2014. Read about Him in the enlightening book “Autobiography of a Yogi, and test His SRF Lessons course and the results will tell the rest. from the address below.
It was in the dark years preceding and during World War II that the Guru turned his mind to the creation of Self-Realization Fellowship “Churches of All Religions”*–speaking with greater urgency than before about the need to “establish unity and brotherhood among religionists of all races.”
“The true basis of religion,” Paramahansaji said, “should be a science. The practice of a ‘science of religion’ is imperative. Different dogmatic ‘isms’ have kept mankind divided…
“We should begin to build world unity with the idea that has been initiated by Self-Realization Fellowship: a ‘Church of All Religions’; not eclecticism, but respect for all religions as constituting various paths to God…Attaining Self-realization through Yoga, men will come to know that they are all children of the one Father.”
…In dedicating the new [San Diego] temple [Paramahansaji] expressed his wish that within its walls many seekers would attain the true realization of the fundamental truths inherent in all great religions.
“I welcome you today to this new Self-Realization Fellowship Church of All Religions,” he said. May you realize the spirit of unity and oneness which we represent, in the realization of the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man.
I dedicate this church in the name of our one Father God, our common parents Adam and Eve, and the great ones of God—Jesus Christ, Bhagavan Krishna, Mahavatar Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswarji, Guru-Preceptor, and saints of all religions. May we all realize the unity of man in the foundation of our existence in God. May this church, which represents this unity, help to dispel the clouds of war and suffering and bring happiness unto all…
…“We should go to church for one purpose only: God-communion. This is why you come here. If you will grow used to quiet, deep meditation at home and in church, you will someday realize what it has done for your life. You need quiet places for communion with God. This is the real purpose of churches and temples.”
A FARSIGHTED CONCEPT OF TRUE UNITY IN DIVERSITY
Paramahansa Yogananda envisioned Self-Realization Fellowship temples as sanctuaries for the perpetuation of the ideals of actual God-communion and a common spiritual brotherhood. These ideals were reflected in the very name he gave to the work he had been sent to the West to establish. “Self-Realization Fellowship,” the Guru explained, “signifies fellowship with God through Self-realization, and friendship with all Truth-seeking souls.” Expressing spiritual goodwill to all, Paramahansaji included in his prayer invocations not only God and the Gurus of the SRF path, but also “saints of all religions.” In this same spirit, when he founded his Self-Realization temples in Hollywood and San Diego in the early 1940’s, he referred to each of them as a “Church of All Religions.”
…[Parmahansaji] was not advocating…the merging of various beliefs and practices from different religions…He explained that in view of the vast cultural and psychological diversity of the human race this would be a highly illogical goal and an unnecessary one. Indeed, each expression has its place, even as he defined his work of Self-Realization Fellowship as a ‘special dispensation.’ He declared that what humanity needs is an understanding of the ‘science’ of religion; and in his book by that name he explained what he meant in referring to “the unity of all religions”:
“If by religion we understand only practices, particular tenets, dogmas, customs and conventions, then there may be grounds for the existence of so many religions. But if religion means primarily God-consciousness, or the realization of God both within and without, and secondarily a body of beliefs, tenets and dogmas, then, strictly speaking, there is but one religion in the world, for there is but one God. The different customs, forms of worship, tenets, and conventions may be held to form the grounds for the origins of different denominations and sects included under that one religion. If religion is understood in this way, then and then only may its universality be maintained; because we cannot possibly universalize different customs and conventions. Only the element common to all religions may be universalized; we may ask everyone to follow and obey it.”
Paramahansa Yogananda, “The Science of Religion”
excerpts from “TOWARD WORLD UNITY THROUGH COMMUNION WITH GOD”
Self-Realization magazine, Fall 1993
***[Gurudeva] chose for the name of his organization in the West (his international society) a distinctive translation of the name he had given to the society in India—Yogoda Satsanga. “Yogoda” (a word he himself had coined) means “that which the science of yoga imparts,” and “Satsanga” means “association with God, with Truth, with good people.” He translated this name as “Self-Realization Fellowship,” and explained: “Through Self-realization we have fellowship with God, and in that fellowship, we give divine friendship to truth-seekers in all religions.” From~ SRF Mother Center
Essentially Paramahansa Yogananda’s Mandate was threefold.
1. To show the unifying elements in mankind’s great faiths and show them how to achieve unity not by everyone converting to another religion, but to know that unity through oneness with the infinite by communing with God.
2. To bring to the world the detailed scientific Yoga meditation that makes that communion a reality. He brought us the great how to live teachings.
3. To clarify and correct the many misconceptions about our understanding of what the great ones were really teaching. Break through the barriers of your dark programming!
He succeeded in fully and effectively doing all this and it is available for those who
willing to listen, learn, and work at it.
The great barriers to the evolution of consciousness.
Humans are so gregarious, community health and participation is as much as part of our nature as is the protection of our individuality and freedom. A serious problem arises however, when we allow emotion and insecurity to trump intelligence/wisdom.
The majority of followers of most religious paths are very concerned about their standing in the community and not so much about the all important quest for truth and justice. Thus we have have the old trap of “blind leading the blind.” This goes on in all cultures, and is clearly described in the Gospels of Jesus and the Bhagavad Gita of Lord Krishna.
If you want your life to mean something – especially to your Self, it is imperative that you make some effort by inner searching and prayer, and study, to understand what these all important matters are all about. You must apply these new truths by practices with which you can change yourself. Only then will you find real purpose, peace, and understanding that goes beyond the masses of sheep in your own group. Only then will you be in a position to share your mind awareness and love with suffering humanity.
No matter what path/culture you were born into – it is not and never was some “god’s only way,” and your race and culture is not some god’s greatest expression of humanity.
it is ok to be proud of your origins, if you can do this without the egotism of vain superiority. If, like many of us you were told such things, you have been lied to by your teachers most of your life. Exclusivism is not needed to support ones self-esteem.
The courageous relinquishing of these and many other false ideas [exclusivism] are the only gateway to enhance your evolution. Shouting slogans and blindly clinging to the ways you really know little about is not the road to peace and progress. It is to serve the locked in programming of darkness. Look around and you will see that the message is clear! That simple message is “Change Yourself.”
As long as you still also believe that this relative world of the senses is reality, you will not know real joy , peace, or purpose in your life.
WHO REALLY NEEDS A GURU? Those who imagined they could make it on their own never went very far it seems…..my own observations over a lifetime!
There is more to a Guru than a claim!
The True Guru is far more than a teacher !
The True Guru is far more than an expert !
Thus Paramahansa Yogananda tells us from His own experience that–
“Ignorance is the archenemy of man.
Therefore, to guide yourself and others by wisdom is the greatest wisdom.
To all those who are around me, I speak without weighing my words.
If I see error in their ways, I tell them so.
But I never try in any way to muffle anyone’s reason.
Obedience to the Guru is the surest way when one is seeking God.
Master [Swami Sri Yukteswar] first told me what to do, and afterwards gave me the reasons. I found him unerring in his wisdom.
By listening to him, I saved myself from many incarnations of roaming and trying to find the truth by myself. Guru is He who has experienced truth. He serves as a guide in the dark forest of life. If you follow him, he will lead you out of the darkness.
If you try to find the way alone, you may needlessly lose yourself in the forest for many incarnations. So follow the Guru, and he will take you through safely.
Forms and dogma should not control religion. Religion must be based on reason,
and that reason is supplied by the Sankya philosophy.”

“So am I happy even though my physical body is not there [at the service], my Spirit is ever with you and my voice is with you now–talking to you from my Heart, my Soul, my Spirit.
I was very happy to feel how the wonderful celebration of the Spiritual Birthday of Christ–was carried on by Saint Lynn with the assistance of Doctor Lewis and I’m glad all of you joined in One Spirit. As I meditated with you it seemed like 3 minutes to me. I have been very very happy, the Heavenly Father has fulfilled all my wishes for the organization.
Personal wishes, I had none, I had finished them long ago–many incarnations ago.
I only prize above all possessions the bouquet of Souls. I do not care who comes and go.
As Jesus said, “He that follows me, he follows not me, but Him that sent me.”
He who shall honor the ego–shall lose God. He who always remembers as Saint Lynn ever does and True Disciples of the order–that behind Him is the link of the Gurus, Christ and God. Such Souls like Saint Lynn and others who will be like him—will feel the connection of the Gurus. Spirituality cannot be bought in a market place.
When you all are little desirous of God—God sends you books and teachers. When you are very desirous—God sends you a Guru. And these link of Gurus, you must regard–if you want to get There.
Jesus said, “Who is my Brother, Father, and Sister, but those who loves God.” I recognized no one–I recognized, yes in the Metaphysical way that all are Brothers. But those who love God–I know they are my Brothers and Sisters. I am not interested in those who come here for a little glamour–then go. I am interested in those that will not go half way, but all the way–and right through the door of God’s Silence. That’s why God doesn’t talk and God will not talk for years and years if you faithfully follow Him.
He may, but only when He’s convinced that you do not seek Him for glamour and glory. But that you seek Him Forever!!! Then He will open the door.
And no one can tell when He will open the door. Even Jesus Christ said, “What my Father knows–I know not.” Steadfastly you must follow the path of Self-Realization–the Greatest Order of Wisdom and Realization that was ever sent in the world. It has the Highest Principles of Meditation balanced with activity.
God has given you hunger–you cannot be idle. Those who think they come here only to Meditate–the are mistaken because God wouldn’t have given them Hunger to work for. Everywhere people are working, but they forget God. We work in ideal environment in our Centers–with God-Consciousness in our bosom. Only work for God and work the body until you are a Master. And then when you will Meditate, you will not nod–if you Master your body by Yoga practice and Kriya Yoga–then your body will be steady and a fit Temple of God. And remember, even if God doesn’t answer–He’s always behind your consciousness.”

These are the spirit saturated words of our 21st century Avatar from India -the holy land!
We witnessed this living Christ on the streets and auditoriums of America and India for
for nearly 30 years.
There has never been such a complete and verifiable record of an Avatar of this stature
in recorded history of the human race.
Paramahansa Yogananda was a purified and perfected transmitter of the wisdom of the
ages of this creation and beyond,
The teachings he left were not in the new age or psychic spiritualist categories, they are a modern unblemished perennial expression of the “Sanatana Dharma.” …..[Hinduism]
This revelation for the 3rd millennium came to the contemporary modern world via several
processes, namely by His writings of prose and poems, His direct transmission of wisdom from spirit while in a state of Samadhi, and by the recordings – both in sound and pictures (video or films) while either giving public talks of personal counselling’s.
Then there are also (within the last hundred years or so) of the many commentaries and documentary and pod castings that are still being produced by persons of all faiths.
He is clearly the most Universal non-sectarian Avatar clearly recorded in Human history!
The demand for books , recordings and talks of His great works are constantly in great demand
world-wide with millions of seekers finding inspiration guidance and unlimited healings
for all sorts of human maladies from physical, mental, and spiritual maladies.
Paramahansa Yogananda’s promise to All SRF/YSS Devotees
Paramahansa Yogananda at Niagara Falls NY
“Of my own free will I give my time to serve you all. My reward is those souls who really love God and are in tune with this work of Self-Realization. I am not bound or attached to anything; any time I wish to walk out I can do so for I have no illusions of name and fame — which only means to be beautifully eulogized and then buried. Whoever comes, freely I give of my time and my realization. And if you would receive, receive it. I am only too glad to give to you, for I know how hard it is to be without the Infinite Beloved. No matter where I am, you will receive from me that friendship and help. The tiger of death is after you, and you must reach Home. If you value your souls, you will make the effort. Study the Self-Realization Lessons, Practice the techniques, Meditate deeply; and if you sincerely persist for seven years with intense concentration, you will have such spiritual satisfaction in your life that you will never forsake or forget this path. So don’t wait. I come only to tell you of that joy. And I ask nothing of you but that you tune in with me, so that I may give you that joy which is in me even as I talk — that joy of God.”………………..

Note to all seekers; I would caution you against believing many claims I have heard about various “gurus” who claim to be working for Yogananda in the cause of Kriya yoga, or those who say Yogananda works through them. It doesn’t work that way!
Yogananda has made it absolutely clear that He works only through SRF/YSS and its leader. This fact is mentioned by Yogananda over 100 times in His writings and talks. “Kriya Yoga is more than just a set of instructions.” Daya Mata said. If you doubt this reread the quote above again and again!
<stronger> The Master said;
“Inherent in the SRF/YSS teachings and spiritual techniques are the help and blessings of SRF/YSS line of Gurus”
It is a built in aspect of taking these lessons from mother Center, then you will be in tune with Yoganandaji and receive the blessings which come with Loyalty and attunement with His work in SRF/YSS
Other teachers and paths may tell you that it makes no difference whether or not you get your Kriya Yoga instructions from them or from SRF/YSS. According to Yogananda such claims are absolutely false. Look at the history of SRF/YSS, this is a path with proven results and many immaculate souls. Paramahansa Yogananda talks about the membership in Self-Realization Fellowship being the key to the link with the Great Masters of this holy path.
“Steadfastly you must follow the path of Self-Realization–the Greatest Order of Wisdom and Realization that was ever sent in the world.

I make this declaration 2023; Never before in human history has a prophet /savior of this stature left the world such a complete and detailed verifiable record of His sacred dispensation for mankind. This coupled with the world witnessing in modern times His impeccable life and love for and service to humanity are extraordinary. This uplifting and advanced inspiration to humanity was a major correction on many misunderstood religious concepts……..xFp
Yogananda said; “You have the power to destroy Karma, You must guide your actions by wisdom, not influences; be self-disciplined
and follow the wisdom guidance of a True Guru;
believe in your divine inheritance as a
Child of God made in His image; associate with good company,
such as coming to church regularly, and practice the techniques that will give you the actual experience of God.”
“ Hear about the wisdom of Yoga,
equipped with which, O Arjuna, thou shalt shatter the bonds of Karma.” from the Bhagavad Gita 11:39
“Here we teach you what to do in the silence of
meditation, especially the practice of Kriya Yoga,
so that you truly experience God communion.
This is why Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS
is reaching all over the world.
This path is sent by some of India’s greatest masters to Christ-ianize the churches and show that the
real meaning religion is to realize God.
Each of you by example of your life must be a messenger of this light. by Paramahansa Yogananda, From a talk in June 6, 1943
From “Journey to Self-Realization,”
(c) Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers LA USA
“Always associate with those who are loyal to God and the Great Gurus and you will find your life becoming the highest type of life. Be true to the truth of Self-Realization teachings and you shall find your life filled with the glory of Spirit, with the effulgence of the Almighty.”
“Those who join us on this path of Self-realization are not connected to some printing press, but to a line of God-realized masters. God Himself, through them, overshadows this work. All who follow it sincerely, with devotion, will be brought to Him.” Paramahansa Yogananda
—Paramahansa Yogananda, Founder of Self-Realization Fellowshipwas clearly referring to His only organization (SRF/YSS)
when He says; “on this path of Self-Realization,” and “God Himself, through them, overshadows overshadows this work,”
Copy of a Handwritten note by Paramahansa Yogananda to a devotee;
In a handwritten note titled Kriya Yoga (click the WRITTEN link to see photos of handwriting), Paramahansaji expressed these thoughts to be conveyed to new initiates about the close association between KRIYA, SRF AND THE LINE OF GURUS:
“This is not the end of your relationship with SRF or Kriya Yoga—but the beginning.
Keep contact with headquarters &you will be linked with the Masters, by which salvation is reached quickly…Some take Kriya Yoga and become fully satisfied and forget all about the link of the masters—
they will never reach God.”
“Kriya Yoga is the fastest airplane route to God, but it has to be piloted by the gurus—SRF teachings regularly received.”
This is an excerpt from an interview with Sri Daya Mata by Saurabb Bhattacharya for “Life Positive,” a magazine in India, that was in the SRF Magazine, Fall 1999:
Q; Some people are claiming their ancestry to Sri Yukteswar and Lahiri Mahasaya, are teaching Kriya Yoga in the West. Please comment.
Daya Mata replies; “Receiving Kriya Yoga is more than obtaining a set of instructions; it means forming a sacred bond between one’s soul and the guru sent by God to lead one back to Him– for it is when practiced within the auspices of that holy relationship that Kriya can fully impart its blessings.”
And a person’s choice of guru is a completely individual matter between that devotee and God; it is not for anyone else to comment on. What we tell people is that if they wish to enter the guru-disciple relationship with Paramahansa Yogananda, then the YSS/SRF teaching is the way to do so. He promised that he and his paramgurus would guide and guard the spiritual progress of all who receive Kriya initiation through the society he himself established for this purpose, if they keep in tune through faithful practice of the teachings.” END>>>>
Notes by PYislove; This edition of Paramahansa Yogananda’s classic AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI with the orange cover is published by Self-Realization Publishers. Yogananda’s publishers. It represents many updated changes that were done by Yogananda himself and his editors in chief according to His directions. It is the only complete and most accurate edition clearly representing the Master’s final visions for His great spiritual legacy. Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers are the sole heir and copyright owners authorized by Yogananda to publish and own his works. He established a publications council to approve of all completed works before publication.
The master also left written and verbal instructions stating that He wanted all this work centered from SRF Mother Center.

A personal Experience with Covid 19. After attending a meeting with a few friends in late 2024, contracted the respiratory infection along with several other persons. Although I had in my possession a supply of “Ivermectin” pills, I decided to see if my immune system would heal the disease. Seeing no improvement after 6 days i applied a simple inexpensive home remedy for 3 evenings which boosted my immune system and cleared my lungs, and left my immune system Stronger than before !!!!!!!!! I just celebrated my 90th birthday several months ago. Kriya yoga and Yogoda exercises are effective and wonderful!

Meditation is the science of God‑realization which brings true light and happiness into our lives. It is the most practical lifestyle science in the world.
Whatever trauma or baggage is preventing you from reaching your full potential of a happy, successful and meaningful life, Self-Realization Fellowship Kriya Yoga, and attunement with this Guru, will remove those barriers to success.
Most people would want to meditate if they understood its value & experienced its beneficial effects.
The ultimate object of meditation is to attain conscious awareness of God [the real Self within] – That one Reality that underlies this dream world of relativity, and the soul’s eternal oneness with Him [ The real part of our being.] What achievement could be more purposeful and useful than to harness the unlimited human faculties of the omnipresence and omnipotence of our Creator? God‑realization FROM MEDITATION bestows on the meditator the blessings of true LIGHT, PEACE, LOVE, JOY, POWER, AND WISDOM.
NOTE; FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT GAINED THE ABOVE RESULTS, you may have lacked proper study, understanding, methodology, practice, devotion, discipline, motives, patience, and Receptivity! Don’t compare your life with any one else’s, we all start off from different levels with various skills, desires, challenges, and intentions. As light brings illumination to darkness, so the Guru brings success to seeming failures. A “Living Guru” works with or without being in a live physical body! This will become evident as you follow these teachings with loyalty and devotion. To the perfected Master the physical instrument is unnecessary once His work here is completed. He then comes to the advancing devotee/seeker in vision or form when the time is right!
The techniques and practices of Kriya Yoga science are not complicated, but it is advanced, precise, and sophisticated, requiring and exactness of sustained regular serious practice as set up by the true God realized Master whose life is the first evidence of how effective His teaching is. One should contact SRF /YSS for the advanced kriya yoga course lessons {for a nominal fee}
“Kriya Yoga Science of Meditation is more than a set of instructions,” said Daya Mata. Instructions are available from many sources – but what will you really get? Many have been duped by copy cat beginners….

Yogananda tells all devotees to always work with His own Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS centres.
“Practice (SRF/YSS) Kriya Yoga, and you will surely succeed on the spiritual path. That is my own experience. The liberating power of Kriya Yoga sunders the prison bars of karma. I have never found in East or West such a great technique as this. Everyone who is a follower of Kriya and of this path of Self-Realization Fellowship will go far ahead. Meditate and see the results in yourself…” . ….said Paramahansa Yogananda.
GROUP MEDITATION will enrich your spiritual life, and was a most important recommendation by Yogananda for all serious YSS/SRF devotees. Bring more peace and harmony into your personal life. The meditation group is our community of Master’s SRF/YSS devotees world-wide. Your regular attendance will help you sustain a stronger personal practice of your spiritual sadhana. Meeting together on a regular basis is one of the greatest aids in helping a new devotees personal growth and happiness. You will find that overcoming negative moods and addictions is easier.
By attending these sacred meetings you support Masters community and His great world wide work that is enhancing World Peace and the growth of Human consciousness.
Yogananda created the SRF/YSS as His sole and uniquely authorized non-sectarian NRM to publish and disseminate the great Babaji’s teachings of Kriya Yoga as taught to Him by the great ones – Lahiri Mahasaya and Swami Sri Yukteswar. Some persons like to dispute which version of Kriya is most pure, but the fact remains that Yogananda has left us a thoroughly proven system that will take one all the way to cosmic consciousness. Everything one will ever need is in the Lessons course as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda through SRF These advanced spiritual SRF Lessons are accompanied by ongoing personal counseling and Kriya Yoga initiations.
Another major revelation shared by Paramahansa Yogananda was the Restoration of the True teachings and concommitance of the the Bible Gospels and the Bhagavad Gita from India. Read His “The Yoga of Jesus” and/or “The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita” for a better idea of what His revelatory message is. Also read, “Autobiography of a Yogi” (orange cover editions from SRF Publishers are the only up to date, complete, and accurate editions.) Now available on Kindle or from other publishers, be sure to buy the “SRF Publishers” complete edition!)
The Master also authorized SRF/YSS Mother Center president in LA USA to approve all future qualified Kriya Yoga teachers/initiators and ministers on a yearly basis who would use Yogananda’s name and teachings to assist this great cause initiated by the great ones.
Enjoy the participation in our weekly London YOGANANDA MEDITATION Circle community meditations. Federico Parente facilitator. More activities will soon be added for public education and Participation. Group meditation will accelerate your self-transformative process, spiritual understanding, and motivate you to meditate daily while enriching your life, health, and and well-being.

WHAT IS SELF-REALIZATION ? Paramahansa Yogananda tells us that; “Self-Realization is the knowing-in body, mind and soul- that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it come to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence ; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing.”
SELF-REALIZATION FELLOWSHIP /YSS is the most Authentic, RELIABLE, ACCURATE, & COMPLETE SOURCE FOR TEACHINGS AND PUBLICATIONS ABOUT PARAMAHANSA YOGANANDA and KRIYA YOGA LESSONS .
KRIYA YOGA is more than a set of instructions. Unless you take some preliminary training, unless you understand the value and necessity of Surrender, Unless you take this course as the master has set it up,
You will not gain what should be gained when practicing Kriya Yoga. You will think that the method does not really work that well – but the real problem will normally lie in your attitudes to the Guru. Loyalty and attunement are needed!
SELF-REALIZATION FELLOWSHIP/YSS is NOT simply A NEW AGE TEACHING. SRF/YSS is similar to “New thought ” teachings, plus the science of KRIYA YOGA and Devotion……………..
With great emphasis on meditation and drug free, healthy, balanced living. And a remarkable unblemished progressive history.
Self-Realization Fellowship/YSS IS NOT A SUB GROUP OF ANY OTHER RELIGION. It is non-sectarian! It is uniquely original and new! It is one of a kind! I only wish that those who write about it would learn more about it first!
SELF-REALIZATION FELLOWSHIP / Yogoda Sat Sangha is the only Kriya Yoga group recommended & founded by Paramahansa Yogananda. SELF-REALIZATION FELLOWSHIP /YSS TEACHES THE COMPLETE KRIYA YOGA, including the higher Kriyas necessary to reach the highest levels of Divine awareness, [ often called by many “the kingdom of heaven” or “Salvation”].
Taking Kriya Yoga initiation via Yogananda’s SRF/YSS will give you all you will ever need to reach Cosmic Consciousness. As for those who imagine they have a better kriya yoga, or a so-called “original “Kriya Yoga etc, they have yet to learn there never was “only one way” for all. Even Lahiri Mahasaya gave differing initiations to different devotees according to their needs. But if you want to work with Yogananda’s way via SRF/YSS, He is the last Guru and strongly recommended joining Self-Realization Fellowship, and taking the SRF Lessons course in order to gain all the benefits and blessings of these teachings. These Living Masters give their direct help and protection to loyal SRF/YSS devotees. They are more than a mediators between us and God. They are your goal of Union with reality.
MEDITATION AND STUDY GROUPS ARE OPEN TO ALL SINCERE SEEKERS / MEDITATORS. These photos represent the true lineage of SRF/YSS.

These LIVING PROPHETS (Gurus) are the great examples that guide and protect the lives of all sincere Kriya Yoga devotees of the One Reality. The true Guru is more than a teacher, yet is now a mediator between you and God. These manifestations of the Divine Reality represent our main inspiration and sources of wisdom to awaken us from the worlds dream.
There Never was “only one Lifetime “for each Soul, [the higher self.!Read your scriptures !!! There Never Was – “ONLY ONE WAY.” There Never Was – “ONLY ONE SAVOIR ” There Never Was- “ONLY ONE HOLY BOOK” called God’s word! The above popular traps of some religions are holdovers from darker ages. You must learn how to read your own book! You must learn the true morality and depth of these teachings!
If one makes a full and proper study of the Christian Gospels and the Holy Bhagavad Gita., you may discover as I did , that although these two Avatars were thousands of years apart their teachings are exactly the same for the similar levels of different cultures which were ready for this most advanced level of spirituality so many years apart. Each prophet did not necessarily bring a more advanced teaching for all of humanity, but often in more primitive times for a particular cultures needs. Now that the world is so fully intermixing, India is bringing a truly universal teaching for a global upgrade……again!
The True picture of what ancient scriptures really means can only be intuitively ascertained by looking at the whole picture of thousands of years of all this worlds spiritual history. Anything less will only keep one bound to dogmatism and the narrowest views of life. No one religion can honestly claim to be the “only way” to live and find salvation from this world of relativity. The “only way” slogan is no more than con.
True UNITY IN DIVERSITY only happens when one does not practice claims of exclusivism and abrogation of previous true Dispensations/scriptures. Group Meditation accelerates ones spiritual transformation and creates a healthy world community of freedom, light, joy, and peace.
The prime message and teachings of the Great Ones is …. “Change yourself First, then you will see clearly to enlighten others.” pp
We also honor the SAINTS AND SAGES OF ALL TRUE PATHS and do not abrogate their esoteric teachings. This is a balanced non-sectarian scientific spiritual path that will enhance your awareness of the Divine regardless of your present affiliation. Narrowness and dogmatism must be left behind! WEBMASTERS NOTE; This is not an official SRF/YSS web site; all original material here is under copy write 2012.-2020. All SRF Quotes used under fair use law with understandings with appreciation. And are used as a contribution to further the work of Paramahansa Yogananda’s great mission…
The orange covered edition [by Self-Realization Fellowship Publishers] which is now on kindle at $1.99 [2014], is the only complete edition which clearly represents the final instructions for this SRF book by Yogananda – as He wanted it. It is the only up to date and complete edition available anywhere, just as Yogananda had it revised to be. His personally trained editors were spiritually advanced souls who fully understood Yogananda’s directions for His great mission to the world. SRF Editions give you the full story, the best quality, for your money. The best part of all this is that SRF edition comes with the Guru’s blessings and darshan.
I fully trust the quality and accuracy of SRF publishers on this book. These were the people who truly understood these teachings and remained loyal to Yogananda’s work since his passing in 1952. Yogananda Himself made many changes to this book from the start….. If he wanted it to be read as originally printed He wouldn’t have made any changes. For persons who are “psychological antiques” it still remains a sacred cow! The whole SRF editions with orange cover has resulted in a spiritual masterpiece that is changing theway people see spirituality in the world…… Now available from SRF/YSS in over 60 Languages world wide.
Awakening intuition is greatly effected by Kriya yoga Meditation techniques, this process is the key to going beyond academia when opening the true meanings of scriptural wisdom. Will power and discipline were also a great asset in this process! The greatest mental conflict (cognitive dissonance) to understanding what you are reading will fall away most quickly by cleansing the consciousness of old entrenched concepts of your earlier indoctrination. You must really be seeking those truths that defy the comfortable route of mutual agreement that supports your limiting social preferences.
Now you will be able to make the great decision! Do you wish to be “one of the many?” or do you wish to become “one of the Few? “ To understand what this is all about, read the Bhagavad Gita translation by Paramahansa Yogananda entitled “The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita”. or the “Yoga of Jesus”, by the same renowned author. Specifically where the gospel of Matthew speaks of a “way of the many” in Matthew 7:13-14, where he describes the wide gate and broad road that leads to destruction and that “many” enter through it. This contrasts with the narrow gate and narrow way that leads to life, which “few” find. Stop fooling your ego! this does not refer to the size of your denomination of specific church! It refers to where you stand in that specific church of temple. If you are still one of the many, you may be very comfortable in the back row with your “blind leading the blind ” friends, but you are clearly on of the “Many”! On average, it seems that if there are about 100 worshippers in that congregation, you are lucky if 5 of them rank as the few! Now you can finally reread that saying of Jesus again without fooling yourself while pleasing your ego. You are most likely not one of the few! One of the few is a lonely position to hold while truly changing yourself to the true wisdom of what is really required to change yourself while loving the Reality…… /////////////////////////////////////////////////// more to come///////////fp
LEARNING TO READ, ABSORB AND LISTEN ! To begin with, make a serious decision based on this scripture. “wide is the gate and wide is the way that leads to destruction, and most persons and paths will take that way! Narrow is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life, [Salvation/ Self-Realization etc] that leads to life, and the few [very few] will find it.” KJV ,verses /////////////////////////////////// A simple accurate interpretation ; Wherever you go, your own or any other temple. mosque, church. about 90% of the attendees there will follow blindly the way of the “many.” the way that is popular, fearful, and blind led by the blind, the way of the many is usually comfortable for sheep! The way of the few is usually the way of changing yourself, the way of effort in the here and now, which most members fear , yet is leads to salvation and self-realization. Every person, believer or atheist must make this clear and simple life challenging decision about all things.
Do you want to be one of the “few “, or one of the “Many”? It is the choice in most things we do in life, the common way of the many is usually low quality and greatly flawed, or even harmful. Only after much rewarding and revealing effort and honest searching will you find the better ways in most things in this life! If your church, your culture or your friends tell you that you have the worlds only true way – they will soon discover there is little accuracy or truth in that way. Popular food , music , medicine etc is mostly low quality !!!!/////////////////////
There are certain revelations, such as recent newer historical facts and fresh approaches into heretofore unfamiliar tracts that alone can give you the full picture to awaken your outdated restricted ideas. I still find it sad by amusing when is see writers and film makers touting their “all encompassing ” documentaries and research about the world when they have no knowledge of what was and is going on in 75% of world cultures. It is the unfortunate process of being educated by those who did not fully understand what they were teaching. Worse yet, for political and other expediencies were afraid to teach us their best known truths. Beware of the agendas of the Many! Many professors in seminaries are under oath to teach only the well established ancient doctrines/dogmas of their institutions instead of what they presently know to be the “truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth”. I learned this at an early age in my searching while interviewing several seminary professors. They admitted that they were under oath to teach only the established doctrines of their church, and could not share a higher wisdom they acquired since they graduated from earlier years. This became one of my eye opening revelations from seminary professors during my earlier search. Alas, no harm was done as I had already decided to leave the church and the education system, and opted for home schooling at all education levels at an earlier date. Years later I had the great and good fortune of being personally tutored by one of the 20th centuries greatest teachers. I followed my heart and everything worked out the best possible way!
The following, copied from Yogananda’s “The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita” from Self-Realization Fellowship publishers preface; Frawley states the following-“
David Frawley & Subbash Kuk had successfully debunked the AIT circa 1970.[Aryan Invasion theory] Dr Frawley says of Yogananda’s World mission that, “Yogananda is best known for His Autobiography of a Yogi, but his “Gita translation and commentary is a work of equal stature. “What the Autobiography of a Yogi achieves in the realm of human experience, “God Talks with Arjuna” achieves as a complete teaching of the spiritual life. “ “In His Gita, Yogananda appears as a spiritual scientist, an Avatar of Yoga for the coming world civilization. The mark of His work will no doubt endure through the ages.”
An Essay by Federico Parente, to whom Yoganandaji introduced Himself in 1958. Although the great Master left his body on March 7, 1952, as a true living Guru, He continues to work with and through many serious devotees around the world, as many are reporting in their genuine and unique personal experiences.
Paramahansa Yogananda and some devotees and early students ……..
Never before has the world witnessed such a complete and verified record of an Avatar of this stature. He walked among us for many years and the technology that existed along with the the great souls who worked with Him made the record of His life and works an incomparable message and inspiration. This may be the most outstanding and moving of the many films of the life and podcasts about Yogananda that are now available.
The most reliable and accurate records of Yogananda’s life and teachings will be found in the teachings and publications of His Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Sat Sangha society. Find the true lessons of Kriya Yoga by going to yogananda.org for detailed instructions and personal guidance on all of the Master’s teachings and wisdom….. there are also many talks on the net.
The Miracle on Sunset Blvd La, USA 2025 Fire storm and the survival of SRF Lake Shrine in early January…2025..
A number of years ago, someone had the foresight to keep a service barge on the Santa-Ynez Lake at the SRF Lake shrine. With the lake as safe water supply, and a gas driven pump with fire hoses, a family of devotees was able to extinguish most of the flying embers that landed on the Lake Shrine property. Keeping the damage to LS at a minimum. Saving wild life and plants, the famous horticultural gardens, and many sacred/historical artifacts from the devastating firestorm of 2025. Blessings and congratulations to all those who took part in this great and courageous effort at the world renowned Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine located in the Pacific Palisades area of Orange county, SoCal, USA. This is one of Masters’ most sacred sites in America. For those who are not aware. This Spiritual and horticultural 13 acre jewel was intuitively visualized by Paramahansa Yogananda since His early years. Through a number of divinely arranged situations was purchased by the great Guru in 1949 for just a few dollars.
The tireless Avatar-Yogi and many monastics over the Years were able to bring it to its’ present status as a well know place of spiritual pilgrimage, continually visited by thousands persons far and near each year. It also serves as a local park in Pacific Palisades area. Members and persons of all [or no] religion are welcome to come to this unique gardens around the Lake for peace, healing and deep Yoga Meditation. There is free parking available at the site. One can find many documentaries and data about the amazing history of SRF Lake Shrine on various places on the net. I was blessed with several inspiring visits to the LS in recent years! Every visit was life enhancing and memorable over the years…Fp
